Bah! The P-51 Mustang is the greatest propeller-driven aircraft built!
The P-51 was a mediocre fighter relegated to ground attack.

Until they put the Spitfire's Merlin engine in it

I think the A-10 is beautiful in how menacing and brutal it looks.

Given its combat role, to make the F-22 SAM resistant would increase its weight so as to make it a useless fighter.

Ekranoplane is awesome, no one agree??? I'm of hard conviction now that the Canadian Navy should be abandoned and replaced with just one of these. We'll situate it for crossing of Lake Ontario!

There's more Injuns to trade beads to down there, ya see...

The warthog gets a 10 for originality. What a cool looking plance... I used to draw those dropping napalm (?) on Battleships every other week as a kid...

They probably thought it wouldn't get out of prototype phase at first glance

I have honestly never seen this plane in my life before, which is the first time Ive been able to say that on this thread thus far.

I should get my friend to post on here. He is a WWII Fighter fanatic/guru... im sure he has some good pics, but i know he has lots of good info.

Secondly, i dont care what anyone generally thinks about war, no one can deny that War planes are just awesome pinnacles of human achievement, despite their purpose, only topped by by spacecraft (and a few structires and nautical craft) in that respect.

Which one? The X-3 or the FD II?

I wish I could find a pic of the FD II done up as the Concorde test plane. That looked really cool.

I do, actually. I was fascinated by flarecraft for a couple years...actually got a couple people together and started building a two-seat one, but ran out of money and ambition before it was finished. I've never understood why they've never gained popularity.

I know Ive never seen the Douglas X-3 before, but the FD II looks quite unfamiliar as well.
