The "Pictures of the World's Coolest Aircraft" Thread
I know Ive never seen the Douglas X-3 before, but the FD II looks quite unfamiliar as well.
'
The FD II held the jet air speed record for a time. My friend's grandfather (RIP) was an air show enthusiast and saw it a few times. It ended up being modified and being used as a test plane for the Concorde project. They gave it a Concorde style wing and a new nose. It looked really cool. Unfortunately I can't find a picture of it.

A10
F/A 18
F-117

De Havilland Mosquito: Concieved as a bomber, this amazingly versatile aircraft was excellent in all fields of air combat. The main body is constructed of plywood, which saved it from being abandoned during the early years of the war.
Hawker Typhoon: This was intended as a replacement for the Hawker Hurricane, but in it's early days it proved unreliable. It eventually found a niche as a ground attack aircraft, deploying rockets against enemy tank forces.
