You really dont get it, a 50 year old would have the body of a 25 year old. If kids dont take the "pills" them when they hit 20 you only physicly aged 10 years. Why not have more kids? Even if people dont the population wont drop as fast because people will live longer.

Rockstars or musicians in general are cool at the beginning, while they are not too popular. Once they get high ranks in the charts and you can hear them at every corner, their new songs tend to become less and less quality. The higher their popularity rises, the farer down the character is usually declining as well. I guess the reason is that money corrupts the nicest persons.

          Conclusion:
By this reasoning above its unlikly that rich ppl. are cool and if they were cool in the past, they probably will get bastards once they got rich

If its no fun why do it? Dance like noone is watching...

            You really dont get it,

The mind is of an 50 year old who after bustin' his arse
raising kids for twenty five years isn't exactly eagar to
            start round 2.

Sounds good? you got to work for 45-50 years now, with this you can work for 90-100 years.

            No Thanks

Did you know that the mentality you have now goes with your physical state. It's all part of a chain reaction of chemicals in your brain. That's why teenagers are lazy and stupid, adults too serious and old folks to afraid to do anything. You are half responsible of how you are.

When it's sunny outside and it gets you in a good mood, it's just a reaction that happens in your brain. The sun rays are captivated by your eyes which sends a signal to your brain and then your brain produces a chemical that gets you in a good mood.

This is just ONE example of how we are nothing but machines.

Only so far, add STRESS and your people will get old
anyways. Stress is what makes you old, not age.

BTW. Stress in the workplace and the home is getting
                worse, not better IMHO.

We could have done without Descartes' clockmaker reference. Men may be like machines, but they are not machines.

All teenagers are lazy and stupid?
                    All adults are serious work-aholics?
All old folks are cautious and considerate?

Those are some pretty big assumptions, spec.

So our mood is always linked with the weather?
What if you are clinically depressed? Will your mood improve with the sunshine?

I agree it's unlikely that people will want to "start round 2" after raising kids, but there is another way in which this could possibly increase the birth rate. The current life expectancy is about 75 years, or thereabout, so the 25 years for raising kids is about 1/3 of a person's life. assuming that you don't start taking the life extension pills until you're 25, halving the aging rate from that point onwards would result in a life expectancy of 125 years, ignoring the effects of the other improvements in medicine that will certainly develop in these years. With a life expectancy of 125 years it would only take 1/5 of your life to raise kids, so I would expect to find at least a few more people willing to put forth the effort of raising children with this decrease in relative cost.

Greater age does not necessarily equal more children born.

People living longer, even if they are fertile for twice as long will still procrastinate.

Why worry about having kids in your first 20 years when you know that you have another 70 available to you?

It probobly will. You know that they give lithium to depressive people and other chemicals to alter there mental state sp that they wont be as depressive as they were. Sadly, those pills makes poeple gain weight and it often causes another kind of depression....

As for the other examples I gave they were generalizations only but true in a lot of cases.
When you are born you are 50% already programmed to react or act a certain way, the rest is how you are raised and what values are "engraved" in you, BUT every body is different.
Many chemicals alter your mental state, alcohol, drugs (legal and illegal) and gas. Face it, sadly we are only a machine.

Frankly, there are some people out there who I'd rather not have living another 50-75 years. Tara Palmer-Tompkinson, for example.
"Paul Hanson, you should give Gibraltar back to the Spanish" - Paiktis, dramatically over-estimating my influence in diplomatic circles.

The gene they're talking about is probably the one that limits the number fo times a cell can divide during an organism's lifetime. How much good turning off this gene would do a human isn't certain. It certainly would not reduce cancer or cardiac deaths, and in fact might increase cancer deaths, since a cell that can go on dividing has a longer lifetime to acquire mutations. I don't think that turning off this gene would even slow down many of the changes of ageing, because many of these changes, such as arthritic degeneration and skin wrinkiling are determined by other genes. It would not extend a woman's reproductive timespan, since the limitation of Oocyte division is governed by other genes.

The medication reduces the ions that are emmited when the thousands of chemical reactions occur in a cell. The ions are what damages the cells and makes them divide, thus, making us age.
