wouldnt that mean that we'd have way too many people? especially if you double the years that one is able to reproduce

Most probably, at least in the first decades of its existence. It could anter public domain after a while though, and become much less expansive to buy.

Spiffer, my goal was really to get an answer....eventhough I'm happy my thread is back up here, it's a matter that interests me very much.
As for the music question, try looking for Groovy Aardvark, Les Colocs, La gamic, Celine Dion , offenbach, Eric Lapointe. I named you the popular ones. I dont like them all but you might....hey, nobody has the same tastes.
Albert Speer: That "medication" would probably be ruled for certain parts of the globe only. Like here in North America population is dercreassing very slowly, but when the babyboomers die we will be in need of human ressources.....even before then they die because they are all going to be retiering soon. Also the birth rate in north america is of 1.4 kids per family. That's less than what the death rate is. And So it could create a balance.
Dissident: ok.

If this is the problem you are trying to solve, this new pill will not fix the problem of a lack of human resources, it will merely delay the inevitable.
So long as we have a birthrate below 2.1, to account for those who die before having children, our population will always be declining. Immigration is a temporary solution, so long as the immigrants are available, but some projections show the population of the world decreasing within 50 years.
Suppose we have this pill. You will increase the population for a while, as the death rate drops substantially. In another 50 years, we will be right back to where we are now, except with a population distribution that much older.

No because people will have time to raise an 18 year old and then make a new baby if they want. So in a life time people will have more children in one longer liftime so it fills the gap.

Would the pill increase the length of time for which people are fertile?
Even so, what you are asking for is an increase in the birthrate. For people who only want 1 child, or don't want to have children at all, this pill will not increase the number of children born.

This is a pleasing step in the ultimate goal of immortality.
Exult in your existence, because that very process has blundered unwittingly on its own negation. Only a small, local negation, to be sure: only one species, and only a minority of that species; but there lies hope. [...] Stand tall, Bipedal Ape. The shark may outswim you, the cheetah outrun you, the swift outfly you, the capuchin outclimb you, the elephant outpower you, the redwood outlast you. But you have the biggest gifts of all: the gift of understanding the ruthlessly cruel process that gave us all existence [and the] gift of revulsion against its implications.
