If we compare two wars wich lasted aproximately the same time- Soviet war in Afganistan and American in Vietnam, then we will see that Soviets lost 14 500 KIA, while Americans lost about 60 000 KIA.

Are the soviet forces casualty figures from soviet records which to be fair aren't renowned for theri honesty.Space is big. You just won't believe how vastly, hugely, mind- bogglingly big it is. I mean, you may think it's a long way down the road to the chemist's, but that's just peanuts to space.

Untill you show anything else, I prefer to believe to statistic of Soviet Defense Department which says something like this 14 397 KIA (I don't remember exact number, but it's less then 14 500).Comment

According to CIA records, I believe they state 22,000 Soviets dead, 100,000 mujahdin and 10% of the entire population of Afghanistan, attributed mostly to the rebels and their guerilla tactics, but some also attributed to the Soviets; mostly because of the random mines planted or dropped. Those figures are accepted by the majority of historians. Not to mention they come from reliable sources, like the CIA archives.
BTW, just to add to the conflict, some people also forget that the Soviets not only fought Pakistani rebels, but other groups as well. Two of those groups now go by the names of Taliban and the Northern Alliance, both of whom, might I add, committeed numerous acts of genocide, emphasis being on Taliban, both before and especially after 1992.Comment
