japan has limited space for living. i'm not sure how that applies to other asian countries, but China is mostly desert and moutains, so they might have limited space too.
There is a lot of free space in America for houses
most of america has a sense of rugged individualism within them for the old days
we're not sissy eurocoms
Italian men are supposed to be infamous when it comes to living at home for long, or at least have their mothers cook and clean for them. This is supposed to continue at least until they get married. Often long into their 30s.

Not the case in Sweden or other nordic countries though. Would guess it's not that much different from the US and UK in its essence even if some economic factors may lead to somewhat different ages for moving out.

Once you go and live at college for 4 years, the idea
of going back to living with yer parents is really bad.
                (freedom of action)

Living with yer parents after your 18 is NOT a babe magnet eithier (unless it's summer and you're in college)

In Latin America and the Med., the notion of Family is stronger than here in the US: putting your elderly parents in a home? Never. Kicking your kids out at 18, period? Hardly.

Would you trust male authority figures if you were Catholic?

Individualism is part of a justification for capitalism. The ruling class in America exploits the individualistic nature of Americans over and over again through the political system.

                                kind of.
protestantism is generally more individualistic, isn't it? and america has traditionally been dominated by protestants.

individualism + lots of free space = kids move out as soon as possible
