Re: I am sick of my being gay being illegal in my state?

    This is rediculous.
Indeed. I say the best way to protest it is through civil disobedience. Have lots of sex.

I don't doubt the law EXISTS - show me that it is USED by the State....

(We have a bizarre angle to our sodomy law as well, although I've never heard of it being applied...)

People are charged with the offense. According to the N.C. Administrative Office of the Courts, trial-level judges statewide heard 379 cases last year that involved a breach of the crimes against nature law. Another 101 cases concerned attempted violations of the statute, a misdemeanor.

Again, I ask for a link....

Cut and paste can come from anywhere. Surely with that many prosecutions a media/court link can be found?

Sorry to put you to work but it is your thread.

          btw - check your PM's

[Quote]This applies to any sexual act other than the missionary style (man on top of woman).

If any person shall commit the crime against nature, with mankind or beast, he shall be punished as a Class I felon.

Your conclusion is unsupported by the premise. The essential clause, 'crime against nature' in no way prohibits popular alternate sexual positions such as the 'doggy style' between a man and a women.

Lacking a link, I am unable to consider the origin of such law, or to confirm its limitation to the jurisdictions cited.

Browse around there a bit... A lot of African and middle eastern countries give sodomy the death penalty.....

It is how they define crime against nature... it's a historical basis kind of like common law...

You can look up the statutes if you like, my state is NC....

I don't understand why you are so unlikely to believe this... it really isn't that unbelievable... your skepticism is a bit too much, like I said the US is very backwards......

This is from the Texas section:

                  (1) "Deviate sexual intercourse" means:

                  (A) any contact between any part of the genitals of one person and the mouth or anus of another person; or

                  (B) the penetration of the genitals or the anus of another person with an object.

                  Nothing about doggy style.

You'll have to confine your flowery rhetoric against the missionary position.

As for the 'homosexual only' limitation, I can't confirm from your site as to the source.

They simply say there is a distinction, without listing the legal definition of homosexuality within Texas.

If one were to define a homosexual, as one who engages in sodomy, then there is no loophole for anyone who engages in sodomy, regardless of their primary orientation.

One question: can police arrest you for looking at naughty sites for... research purposes?

I really dunno how does it work
I will never understand why some people on Apolyton find you so clever. You're predictable, mundane, and a google-whore and the most observant of us all know this. Your battles of "wits" rely on obscurity and whenever you fail to find something sufficiently obscure, like this, you just act like a 5 year old. Congratulations, molly.

I don't know where it is on the books but it is "common knowledge" here.

"Common knowledge" of law is often wrong.

My sympathies. While I do support a state's right to legislate as it sees fit (I like the idea that different states have different 'flavors'), it's always been my opinion that what two (or more) consenting adults do together sexually in private is not the concern of the state.

If you wish to attempt to initiate change, do so reasonably. Follow the leads of King and Gandhi.

In the meantime, many cities and states are very sympathetic to alternative lifestyles (and San Francisco is a gorgeous city).

                                Good luck.
