Administrative Office of the Courts, trial-level judges statewide heard 379 cases last year that involved a breach of the crimes against nature law. As for the 'homosexual only' limitation, I can't confirm from your site as to the source.
They simply say there is a distinction, without listing the legal definition of homosexuality within Texas.

My sympathies. While I do support a state's right to legislate as it sees fit (I like the idea that different states have different 'flavors'), it's always been my opinion that what two (or more) consenting adults do together sexually in private is not the concern of the state.
If you wish to attempt to initiate change, do so reasonably. Follow the leads of King and Gandhi.
In the meantime, many cities and states are very sympathetic to alternative lifestyles (and San Francisco is a gorgeous city).
