My wife suggested McD's for lunch today. My answer:

We got some deli sandwiches instead... yum. Every time I have fast food I get stomache cramps.

I love fast food. Taco Bell, Arby's, Quizno's, Wendy's, McDonald's, and Burger King are the ones I eat at the most. But I don't eat at them all that often.

Yeah, usually I will go to somewhere like Wetherspoons and get something more nutritious and just as cheap if there is one available. I prefer Burger King to McDonalds though if I am going to get fast food, although it is more expensive. Although in this country I think the fast food chains are being clobbered by the cheap food pub chains (such as Wetherspoons)

Isn't it something like £5 for a burger in McDonalds in England now (it was when I was there...)

Oh, I will eat KFC whenever possible.

Erm...no...A double cheeseburger is 99p...although it does get more expensive than that for some of the more 'luxury' (hah) burgers...

Ouch! You guys are getting screwed; the sole redeeming feature of fast food is that it is cheap (well, and fast) so $8 is outragous. You can get a whopper or a Bic Mac for $0.99 here in California. Add a large fries & a large coke and your still some where btween $3.50-$4.00.

A big mac itself is £1-2 or something, certainly not as much as £5...

I like fast food quite a bit too, but usually don't eat it very often. Bollocks on the snobs who are too good for fast food.

A burger is 1€ here so guess who's getting screwed?

I eat at fast food way too often (usually Wendy's).
Wendy's can be not too bad for all those vegetarians as well. Decent salads for a 'fast food place.'

Since a Euro is worth slightly more then a dollar and our burgers cost just under a dollar... I'd say it was you.

The best fast food is fish 'n' chips - a big cod fillet in crispy golden batter, and a huge portion of thick chips (fries to non-Brits), but not the thin, straw-like things you get in burger places.

With loads of salt and vinegar. Heaven!!

I eat once a week at a locally-owned burger joint and twice a week at a locally-owned pizza/pasta joint. I rarely venture out to chain fast food places anymore.

That really depends. There's plenty of stuff you can cook at home that is just as bad for you as eating out at fast food places all the time. Since I've switched my diet to more healthy stuff — fruits, vegetables, reduced-sodium stuff where possible, whole wheat bread, among other things — it actually seems to cost a bit more to eat healthy.

That's part of the reason why there's such an epidemic of health problems across the Western world — the stuff that's bad for your system is usually much *cheaper* than the stuff that's good for you, but takes a bigger chunk out of your wallet.
