...it's in the interests of rugby in general that we don't have stoned players on the field. It's bad enough looking at the ugly mugs of the likes of Anton Oliver without them having red eyes too!
I agree, but I am pretty convinced Peter De Villiers has not taken any drug (at least a forbidden one) before a game, I would rather think he has put his nose at the wrong place during a party.

Read Imanol. Well, I guess he'll probably keep his mouth shut after Laporte tells him what he thinks of it.
Abour de Villiers, I think he probably took the drugs at some party, not knowing exactly what it was. I mean, if you have drunk a few pints of beer, it is totally plausible that you should believe it fun to sniff some sugar (or some bicarbonate). Isn't it?
That's why I only drink that much after matches. It's no good to be sick the day after. You could miss the match on TV if you haven't woken in the afternoon.

Yes but I doubt you are regularly controlled in order to detect some dope in your body.

It's all about perspective Tamerlin. Had those comments been made in reverse by an English player you may have labelled them racist perhaps?

And yes De Villiers has the right passport. So does Catt. It doesn't alter where either of them were born to be honest.

On the drug issue - we need consistency.

Dallaglio was not banned so neither should this player be. Thats my view.

And on the plus side Califano has been drafted in. From what I have seen of him he isn't in the same league.

              Famous last words?

And now gents I am going home - good night!

I am not paying much attention to the declarations of the players whatever their country but what has said Imanol is really stupid and is rather xenophobic rather than racist. But he should have shut his mouth anyway.

I have already said I am not against the fact the players are representing their federation and not their country though I must admit there are some abuses. This is the kind of peculiarity that makes Rugby what it is.

No, there was no coverage of the game. Just the press reports this morning. NSW came from 12-14 behind at half time. Most interest here was in Lote Tuquiri's rugby debut - leaving aside the 7s last week - on the wing. It's said that he showed good rugby nouse and skills in a game that, apparently, didn't give the wingers a lot of opportunity.

Yeah, it had a sort of medieval look to it.

But he should have shut his mouth anyway.
Actually Tamerlin it is quite re-assuring to see you have your own equivalent of a Gregan, Healey or Mehrtens.

This is the kind of peculiarity that makes Rugby what it is.
The other great thing about rugger is that we can all hold different views on things like this and yet still talk amicably about the beautiful game?

                            See you tomorrow!
Cheers! And here I am as promised…

Was Caligastia cracking a joke or was it some kind of Bok party trick the lad was taking part it?

Yeah, it had a sort of medieval look to it.
It does ring a bell actually Finbar – but I can’t quite place it. It will come to me I’m sure.

Bristol at home tomorrow for us.

A team in trouble as it happens. Owner bailing at the end of the season and all the talent looking to parachute. They will probably beat us.

There are probably ways to interpret the laws such that such drugs do enhance performance - As pain-killers, stimulants, de-fatiguers and the like...

I quite agree. Black eyes look soo much better.
