Let's face facts Paiktis. Human beings are like rabbits in that groups of humans can't live near each other for five minutes before they start having sex with each other.

Greeks & Turks have lived next to each other since at least the fourteenth century so it is safe to say there has been a significant amount of intermarrage.

So when you think about it Paiktis even you could be part Turk.

Couldn't we all just abandon this miserable thread and let it die out peacefully. This poll is quite despicable in its nature, I think most people agree.

Many, many Greeks simply became Turks. First of all there was the boy-tribute system. Second, entire units of the Byzantine army simply joined the Ottomans in the 14th Century. Ohran's wife (or was it Beyezid's), IIRC, was the daughter of the Byzantine "emperor." By the 17th Century, the Sultan's had more Greek blood than Turkish blood.

Hell, the ruler of the Empire for a long time was Kosem Sultana, mother of Mehemd IV and Ibrahim. She was a full blood Greek. She ruled over her husband, was regent for Mehemd, and took over the empire for Ibrahim (he was totally insane). I should note this is about the point that the EMpire began to become more nasty.

Most of the major sities of the European part of the Empire were either founded by Turks or resettled by Turks after the Christians had fled. In most of the Balkans, Christians were forbidden from converting to Islam, because Moslems didn't pay taxes nor did they have to give up a son. Where they could, however, Christians converted in droves.

                    This thread reeks

The only thing we're learning here is who is a racist or a bigot or prejudiced or obsessed with colour

The nationality of those blind, morally stunted people is no surprise in most cases either

I expect the same people to show up on a thread about p*nis length
Any views I may express here are personal and certainly do not in any way reflect the views of my employer. Tis the rising of the moon..

Look, I just don't anymore, okay?

I dunno, I learned some good things from Doc S. I never had even heard of the classification "Dravidian." And Che's last post had a good history lesson.

I'm reading Lords of the Horizon right now, about the Ottoman Empire. I checked out five books on the Ottomans for research so I could write some more events in Europa-Universalis II.

                                interesting map,

but it only makes sense that danes are closer related to iranians than to tibetans or mbuti.

                                they're both indoeuropean peoples.
