I've just explained the proof. Anthropology disagrees with racism.

Again, there are no concievable differences in selection pressures on the various traits to which you refer (intelligence, agressiveness, etc.), and in similar environments, there are often vast differences in the perceptions of these traits on the people. Scientifically, your claim is pure and utter bull****. Furthermore, all statistical study racists have used to "demonstrate" their points are tainted with idiotic statistical techniques (i.e. The Bell Curve)

Sure they do. A simple search on Ebsco or Lexis Nexis will turn up plenty.
Don't see anything about Peer-reviewed academic journals. News publications aren't academic journals.
As for Ebsco, when I searched for "racial differences," all I could find were studies accounting for the "racial differences" through purely rational reasons, such as wealth disparities and discrimination.

Googled some.
Couldn't find proof or even any studies.
Found this: American Anthropology
Whoops! We have launched a new website and this page seems to have gotten lost in translation. Not to worry. Try one of these links to get back on track! […]
They are conserned.
Many links found with google had the word "Taboo" in them.

Christianity: The belief that a cosmic Jewish Zombie who was his own father can make you live forever if you symbolically eat his flesh and telepathically tell him you accept him as your master, so he can remove an evil force from your soul that is present in humanity because a rib-woman was convinced by a talking snake to eat from a magical tree...

Can I now look forward to seeing you prove your intellectual integrity by applying your "race does not exist" theory to all human groups who make claims to collective identity?...people like to cry a lot... - Pekka

How do you explain brothers or sisters who are different colours being born to the same parents. Are they different races.Space is big. You just won't believe how vastly, hugely, mind- bogglingly big it is. I mean, you may think it's a long way down the road to the chemist's, but that's just peanuts to space.

Caligastia, you are not so stupid to believe that anyone here is saying that the idea of race is simply a figment of our imagination and I'm sure your just having fun with us, but I'll point out if it wasn't obvious, the arguments here are refuting the fallacies of eugenics and the idea of "scientifically" categorizing people, based on superficial traits, such as skin colour, facial bone structure, etc... and the rather idiotic, IMO, and simplistic conclusion that these traits must be linked to measurable differences in intelligence and behaviour.
The cultural idea of race is very real but mainly due to shared experience in racial politics. As has been pointed out here, racial categories and views on race differ significantly across the world. Certainly a black man from Detroit would be thought of as strange if he went to Nigeria and started calling everyone brother. Most blacks in America would be called mulato or mixed race in Brazil. The category is cultural and psychological as opposed to biological. But you knew thats what we meant didn't you.

No, of course, I don't believe that anyone really BELIEVES that races do not exist. I just seek to point out that they are stating something that they do not really believe themselves.
Yes, of course, there is a wide variety of ways of categorizing racial groups and sub-groups, and in different cultures this may be done differently, as you point out. But this cannot be taken as some kind of "proof" that races/sub-species/distinguishable human populations (call them what you will) do not exist, or that it is meaningless to categorize them. Different cultures categorize many things in different ways, such as the colours, for example (two objects referred to as "orange" and "red" respectively in one culture may both be called "red" in another, and so on). But that does not mean, of course, that colours do not exist, or that attempts to categorize them are meaningless.
I see nothing "idiotic" about the study of differences in mental and behavioural characteristics among races. If human populations have lived apart long enough to develop a whole host of physical differences, they have certainly lived apart long enough to develop different mental and behavioural traits. This happens with other animals, and there is no reason to think it would not happen with human beings.
It is the insistence on the "equality of the races" which is scientifically groundless, and akin to a religious belief, not the study of racial differences.
I'll grant you there may be many racial myths floating around in the popular imagination, and some studies of racial differences purporting to be scientific may be imprecise or seriously flawed (as is the case with other fields of scientific study). But I have yet to see any convincing evidence for the idea that there are no differences between races beyond superficial physical variations.
The fact that some countries promoting a multiracial society have gone so far as to outlaw any opposition to this idea of "racial equality" merely underlines its weakness. Since when has the truth needed "laws" to protect it?Last edited by Caligastia; November 14, 2002, 14:41....people like to cry a lot... - Pekka
