Why should we care if China invades Siberia? That's all they'd be likely to invade, I'd imagine - they can't go after Taiwan because of their lack of naval forces, and they can't go after South Korea, unless they want to get into a long drawn out war where both sides lose millions.

If they launch a few chaff filled rockets, they could destroy all satellites orbiting the Earth, and cripple U.S. forces, at least for a short time.

The damage to Americas economy would also be profound.

Depends, if the US attacked in the Spring and conquered from Vladivostok to Minsk and Moscow to Murmansk by Fall, then they woudn't have any problems. But if they failed to do so, the Russian winter would make things very, very difficult. It has saved Russia twice before, and don't think it wouldn't do it again.

I honestly think SOMEONE in the entire US Government *might* have picked up on the fact winter has saved the Russians twice and why. ASSUMING that SOMEONE noticed, I'm sure countermeasures would be taken. This is all hypothetical of course. If random people in off topic forums for a VIDEO GAME have figured this out, I'm sure winter wouldn't be as bad as it was implied.

Again Floyd, during the Afghan War we had bombers that could bomb Afghanistan from Missouri. What's to say we couldn't use super long range bombers to kick the **** out of Russia? And couldn't we also build more air bases on the Arctic coast in Alaska and fly over the North pole to bomb Russia?

In that scenario Russia would attack Finland ASAP, to secure strategically very important area for that kind of war. No question about it. They might even ask if we would let them come to here and secure areas, but we would say no way jose, and it would be war between us.

Then you americans would come flag waving with hotdogs in your mouths and say we need to use your country to attack, and if not, russians are gonna do it anyway, let us defend you. We would say no, that's sure ticket to war with the russians, and we don't want it, keep your nose out of our business and go destroy some other countries, please. Well.. the russians would attack anyway, because they'd gain sea access and nice things, and secure st. petersburg etc more.

So it comes to the point where the US and Russia wants our ass, even if we're not in the mood of putting out any. And no offence, you would be both seen as bad and evil threat then. For americans to force us to go war when we don't want to, and russians because they are russians .

Not reading anything that's already been posted... Stealth wouldn't really get America anywhere against Russia. The S-300 would make quick work of anything trying to penetrate its radar that's not a wild wiesel aircraft. This site is quickly becoming Russia's standard platform for Surface-to-air weaponry.

As for a land war? Russia would win hands down if its in their own back yard. Their tanks are at least as good as ours and anybody dumb enough to wage a large-scale land war in Russia is going to get what's coming to them.

It would probably end in stalemate. Neither Russia nor America have the capacity to strike deep enough and hard enough to either side to make a definitive outcome. An air war would be very costly for both sides. Russia has a LOT of high-speed interceptors with very big missiles that can fire at extremely long ranges.

The Russian arsenal really hasn't had a chance to stretch its legs in an all-out fight (not brushfires), unlike America. Everybody still seems to be suffering from Persian Gulf War Syndrome, where we witnessed "Russian" equipment being smashed by "superior" American equipment.

Lets get a few things straight, most of the equipment Baghdad was using was either old or "monkey-modeled." The T-72, which is a real threat when deployed by Russia, is not that frightening when its the export model with over-used cannons. The Iraqi T-72 models had long since lived past the projected life of their barrels.

But just looking at the quality of the armies... on one side you have an army that had been preparing for an all-out fight against immensely out-numbering odds, and on the other side you have an army that had just barely fought off a foe that had come out of revolution and had no military equipment to speak of.

Scepticism about Russian equipment would be put aside if Russia were to find itself in a stand-up fight, say, against China. The Chinese would find their asses quickly handed to them if they were to walk into Siberia tomorrow.

Russia has no chance against Finland, Pekka. If they had any chance of conqueroring the country, they would have done so under Stalin.

No i beg the difference. They would dominate our ass if they really wanted to. Our official tactics is to make it so costly, it wouldn't be worth it for the other, but we can be invaded.. It's another question if it would be worth it to loose lots of men and equipment, only to conquer some land nobody really wants with people ready to revolt.
As for you too, when you conquer us, we start setting them mcdonalds in fire . Well going little OT again..

in reality US would push hard to get our attention, and i think we would pay attention. Allie with the US. You'd have to choose which one. And if you get us, then you will win the war, if Russia gets us, they will win simple.
