Sure we have bombers capable to reach any point on globe. The range of Tu-160 cruise missiles is 3000km. Those planes able to aproach US cost make launch of its missiles to any city of USA and turn back while your first intercepter will tack off to catch our bomber. If it will take off of course. It's pretty hopeless deal to chase e fastest supersonic strategic bomber, when it is 3000 km away from you.
Your missiles would be destructive, but hardl enough to destroy an entire city (non nuclear, of course). They would be better used attacking military installations anyway.
Destruction of two buildings had a huge impact on US economy. Now imagine that in case of war with Russia it will be hundreds and thousands of such buildings. (sure in Russia too, but we will under "emeregency situation", in full isolation and we wouldn't have freemarket economy as you are. So it doesn't scare us much).

              • "Aside you- who never participated in real war. Germans are born warrirors. They have strong military tradition. During our history we were enemies often, but we respected each other as warrirors. They are exellent warriors and not arrogant like you."

Arrogance is a virtue. We are the best warriors. It's a war where you die for mother Russia and we watch you do it. We'll even give you a token of respect. Here's a wooden nickle.

"You wouldn't do it. Few month ago there was a poll "Do you ready to die for your country" and only few Americans answered- yes. It's a shame of yours. You will lose."

This poll sponsored by the Iraq-US Alliance for Understanding. Margin of error +/- 100%.

"You asked why we ever could fight vs. each other. I explained. This scenario is not about 2020 its about 2002."

NEWS FLASH: Russia spends a little over $20 billion on its military. Its "soldiers" hoe goddamn potatoes and its recruits are the love beasts of sado-masochistic burden. Even Babushka grandmothers are afraid to entrust the military with their loved ones.

I came upon a barroom full of bad Salon pictures in which men with hats on the backs of their heads were wolfing food from a counter. It was the institution of the "free lunch" I had struck. You paid for a drink and got as much as you wanted to eat. For something less than a rupee a day a man can feed himself sumptuously in San Francisco, even though he be a bankrupt. Remember this if ever you are stranded in these parts. ~ Rudyard Kipling, 1891

By going to war, the US would do what it did in WWII, turn our economy into a war production economy. The US would practically profit with a war against Russia. The 9/11 attacks had the impact they did (it wasnt even that major, the collapse of enron and corporate scandals are the reason why the stockmarket is unstable. The economy though is almsot unchanged. Both total production and sales of consumer goods and services have risen) because the US continued to go about our normal way of life. We did not shift to a war economy and food rations, because there was no need to.

                    • If there was not a 9/11, the US would be in a far bigger mess right now. Enrons and Worldcoms are a far bigger threat to the US than Al Qaeda right now.

                      • They are gutless. One city of theirs carpet bombed and see them surrendering and betraying their "country" for what they love the most: bucks
I dunno, but it sounds like to me someone is jealous of our wealth and prosperity

                          after all, who won Alamo?
Hmmm, I live just a few miles north of the Alamo...

3000 Mexican soldiers took 13 days to capture an old spanish mission garrisoned by 189 men, including such famous American icons as Davey Crockett and Jim Bowie. All 189 combatants were killed when the garrison fell, 1600 Mexican soldiers died in the siege.
I guess it is technically a Mexican victory, but not really. Besides, it is among the American trend of fighting wars without attrocious casualties of our own, but inflicting them on our enemies

As for Mexican immigrants, there is indeed a high concentration in Texas and other border states too. My city is about 54% hispanic, if I recall correctly. Most of these Hispanics are native and see themselves as true Americans, much like my Italian/Polish/English/Irish/Scotch/etc ancestors felt after they arrived here. I know you werent serious when you said Texas will be Mexico's again soon, but I just wanted to clear this up.

BTW "who won Alamo" was a joke me and a guy from Delaware played on a guy from Texas some years ago

We made everyone ask him who won Alamo

                            anyway, again thanks

Paitkis, Texas is already Mexico. So is California.

Anyway, I have always been wondering why do you habve the strong hatred for the U.S.? We've been arguing about that since I first joined Polly. Personally, I feel no animosity towards Europe. I am of European heritage (roughly 50% German, 25% English, 25% Slavic) and I am proud to think of Europe as the home of my anscestors. I don't want to fight Europeans. I want to go and visit England and Germany and Russia and Italy and Greece and all the rest. I see no real reason for all of the bickereing. I am proud of the U.S. and of Europe. Am I the only one?
"The great rule of conduct for us in regard to foreign nations is to have with them as little political connection as possible... It is our true policy to steer clear of permanent alliances with any portion of the foreign world, so far as we are now at liberty to do it." George Washington- September 19, 1796

Do you know Nitzhe words- "everything that don't kill me, makes me stronger"?
Army is the school of survival. Our soldiers will survive at any situation, at any conditions. Your soldiers will start crying if you took candy from them.

A single of those beast who called Dedushka (grandfather) with empty hands easily torn apart a dozen of US commandos. And every Russian soldier become Dedushka after first "testing" year- ("duh" (spirit) stage.) of service.
