  • Interesting article about the AB, it's a real pleasure to hear someone has not forgotten Rugby is a team sport.

If we are lucky enough, some SH officials will also remember scrums and mauls are also an essential part of Rugby as a team sport.

By the way, the department of the company I'am working in is closing its doors, it's my last day at the office today. Nothing wrong about it as I was already planning to leave this company before the end of the year. The real drawback ( ) is that I'am loosing my access to a fast Internet connexion and that I will have to rely on my limited modem access at home, I will thus have to reduce my participation to the Apolyton threads for a while. Don't worry, or no false hope, I don't plan at all to cease any activity here.

    I won't let you down, Havak !

No, I don't forget you Finbar...

That's a bumper sticker here. And Ming and his brother - talk about nepotism! - wouldn't allow it anyway.

Im in no hurry to start a new thread, as this one still has room for 100 or so more posts, but I thought it would be fun for us all to come up with ideas for the new one.
Havak and I have spoken! And others - well, one of our Gallic comrades - have voted! Be aware, Caligastia, that a mighty revolutionary army is presently marching on the despised dictator's citadel that is NYC! All 3 of us!

Don't worry, Tamerlin, we'll all type faster for you to make up for the slow connection.

That must be where Fox Sports World got the slogan from. I suppose in your case its comparing with the aussie rules ball...

Any ideas for the new thread title then?

And have we agreed that we dont need a margin for this weekends game?

          • I'am of a rather traditional lot, though "Havak and Finbar's rugby thread" sounds good for me I would rather prefer :
"Rugby : the Noble Game" as our favorite game has been called throughout most of its existence. I admit this is less funny...

But if a revolution is about to start here, I'am with you...

"Allons enfants de la patrie, le jour de gloire est arr... cough ! cough ! Aaaaaargl..."

About enlisting other participants, I fear non-apolytonians will not allow this thread to stay as friendly as it is today.

Against Havak? A recently-retired tighthead prop? Pshaw, we say!

Now I'm going to bed. I've been trying to get to bed for the last 20 minutes!

                  • I agree with you Caligastia, I think no margin is required.

I will bet 20 gold on the AB (thanks to the article you send us).

That has a ring to it. I quite like the marketing tag they use here: Rugby - The Game They Play In Heaven. Of course I realise that brings matters of faith and belief into the equation and Caligastia will probably sh*t himself on the same basis that politics causes his dictatorial heart to go pitter-pat. OTOH, we can completely overlook its religious context and regard it simply as the advertising agency's conceit that it was.

Goodoh. We meet in the Che Guvera Bar every Thursday at 9pm, subject to insurgencies-in-progress. Don't tell Caligastia.

Tamerlin - is that a question in your sig? Or another supportive brick in the NH Solidarity wall?

                          • Havak - Strange goings on at *spit* Bath. They have torn up Mark Connors' contract before he even started. *spit* Bath claims he had to be available to play on June 1. He says the agreement with M. Foley was that he would start in August. Connors was one of the players required to play out his contract here. I'd've thought all this was crystal clear months ago. Now he's talking about suing *spit* Bath.

Editorial note. I only *spit* at Bath in sympathy with you. I have no idea why I'm *spitting* at them. Such are the vagaries of loyalty.

                            • Wouldn't they (the Bathtubbians) have had access to his current contract before drawing up their own?
                              Couldn't they see the discrepancy?

Of course they had access to his current contract. It was an issue at the time that the ARU were going to enforce his contract here. He was one of several players in the same situation. I suspect it's one of two things:

                                (a) They decided they don't want him after all. Dubious, because he's a very good, very versatile player with at least 3 solid years left in him;

                                (b) They realised they couldn't afford him. Much more likely.
