      Where are Andydog and his pup Mickeyj? And Tamerlin? And LDiCesares? I assume I'll get up in the morning and find they've all wacked their money on the Wallabies.

        The scrum machine can't quite emulate that skull-popping feeling of old. Plus it lacks the necessary flailing limbs et al.

        But yeah I do leave my desk a fair bit. There's coffee to be drunk after all.

          No no. "oi, leave it out mate!" sounds much more natural. You have to know when to say bloke and when not to.

              You have to know when to say bloke and when not to.
              True no doubt. But somehow using 'mate' to someone who had just called me an old lady didn't seem quite right.
              It is better to keep silent and be thought a fool than to speak and remove all doubt

                'mate' isnt something you necessarily say to friends only. For example if you saw a stranger do something crazy you could comment to him 'youve got problems mate'.

                Anyway, Im glad you and Finbar enjoy posting in this thread so much. Are we mates again?

                  I have more than two pages to read.

                  If it's not too late, I'am betting 27,81 Gold in favor of the Aussies.

                  Let's go for 30, I think it will be easier to compute (but far less interesting).

                    Hi dudes, I'm back from luvly Switzerland - fantastic place, but they don't play much rugby there.

                    Put me down for 30 gold on the boks please!

                    Mikeyj also wants to put 30 on the boks (he won't be able to post tonight).

                          "Mate" is one of those great all-encompassing words. It can, of course, refer to a friend. If stressed at the end of a sentence - "Fair suck of the sav, mate" - it can have a nicely threatening quality to it. It's also incredibly handy when you've forgotten someone's name. Bottom line - it's one of those words for every occasion. You should've used it.
