That's why I wrote it in the past tense, and referred to the old version.

I have 01/02, but never get time to play it anymore.

There IS a huge difference between England and other countries as you pretty much need 10 caps and still be a active player in the national side to get a work permit in England. The last time i can remember this was Milan Baros that Liverpool had to delay the purchase of for half a year or so until he reached the number of caps needed. As far as I know no other states or FA:s have that kind of rule.

As in Championship Manager season 2001/2002.

Germany trounce the Netherlands and Belgium in the group stages. After a heroic battle the Germans defeat the Russians to get to the final, but have a nil-nil draw with France as both sides turn defencive - the game goes to extra time. France win on penalties only after the English ref and US linesman disallow a German goal.

Two world wars and one world cup.

When we beat Germany 5-1, the headline read "Germany conquered, now onto Japan".

Great games over the long weekend...

The US game was the lead story this morning on ESPN's Sportscenter and when showing the opening goal highlight they played the Univision broadcast with Andreas Cantor yelling in spanish instead of their own english coverage - it was hysterical.

It was also the lead topic of conversation around the office - everyone was asking the guys that watched the game for analysis.

Official US team gear is sold out nationwide except for odd sizes and off beat items.

America loves an underdog who tries really hard and beats a more talented opponent. The IIRC the voted-on best sporting moment of the 20th century here was the amature hockey players winning the gold medal in 1980.

The US plays best when we counter attack because we can't string together more than four passes, but we are quick and for once we seem to be able to finish! Also we seem to be doing better at creating chances from set pieces in the last year or so.

We still don't have the raw skill levels that most teams do, but we are athletic and have a tremendous desire fueled by a universal lack of respect - at home and abroad. This year is a bit of a fluke, but watch out - ten years from now we will be seriously competative and get to crash out of qualifying like Holland.

god I am sleepy... no Champ Manager 01/02 tonight.
                                Be the bid!
