Ohh just ignore the England haters bods, the results say more than their tiresome opinions ..

Saying that, Id hardly call Cameroon & Senegal inferior .. you run the risk of being as aragant as the argentinians were .. they thought the world cup belonged to them .. and even a draw against England was unconceivable .. look where they are now .

Every team in the last 16 got there because they deserved too .. and although some teams may have had a harder path than others, ultimatly, they have to win in the finals.

Id say Spains route is going to be the hardest, having to take on Italy, and Germany .. (assuming all results go as expected) before loosing to England in the finals

    one can dream anyway..

      USA! USA!

Great match. The US played some damned nice catenaccio. The Italian side would have been proud. Some great counterattacking led to two very nice goals (especially the first one, with Wolff having the presense of mind to lay the back back into space and have McBride run onto it)!

Of course Germany is probably where this train ends, but who knows eh?

I agree 100% Kamrat .. but is it wrong to support English speaking teams ??

I don't think anybody suggested that English speaking people were better than any other people .. did they ???

Oh, and I also laugh at those Euros who laughed when some Americans said that we know Mexico and have played them a lot. HARR HARR, we were right .

I would hope the US has played Mexico quite a lot, considering your neighbours .. and both in the N.American qualification rounds ..

However, you've beaten them when it most counts .. in the world cup ..

Viceroy, but look at the comments in the other (pick 'em) threads. Where this is another Mexican team, etc, etc. And your prior victories don't matter. Well, we showed they do .

Exactly! In the last 5 years we have a great record against them. The Euros couldn't fathom that the US could win though . Mwahaha .

Sorry Imran, I wasn't going to go trawling for daft comments .. I think anybody that assumed the US were going to get hammered by Mexico didn't know what they were talking about.

I personally thought Mexico would scrape through, however, I was wrong, but then .. I never made such a deal about it ..

I would still think that Germany will win, but I would be more than happy if next Friday, your here to tell me how wrong I was ..

Do you think you'll be Germany ?? It is certainly possible ..were not talking about the same German team of old, they don't seem as strong in defense to me, but Germany always score in the last minute (like the Irish) and that is why I believe they will win.

Well done USA. Cheering the underdog is always good (that's why I got so involved in the Ireland/Spain match last night that I only got a few hours sleep before my exam today).

Here's to the WC final to remember - USA vs Senegal!

I know that this is not very sportsman-like but considering all the people who were betting against US in the "prediction" thread...

I told you so! I told so!
'There is a greater darkness than the one we fight. It is the darkness of the soul that has lost its way. The war we fight is not against powers and principalities, it is against chaos and despair. Greater than the death of flesh is the death of hope, the death of dreams. Against this peril we can never surrender. The future is all around us, waiting, in moments of transition, to be born in moments of revelation. No one knows the shape of that future or where it will take us. We know only that it is always born in pain.'"

Considering how weak Germany was against Paraguay I wouldn't be suprised if the US could win against them as well. I didn't see the latest US game so I'm not 100% how good they are at the moment but Germany did not impress me.

This tournament has after all been full of well know teams that have been beaten by hard working, smart and brave new teams. Just look at the game at the moment. Belgium have the upper hand against Brazil.

Aw, I don't see it that way. They were unlucky with that one disallowed goal, but Brazil still shock ervyne- GOAL TO BRAZIL! 1-0
