Now I would have thought that this would be of immense help to them. Making settling in easier, and giving them a better start in their new country.

Which proposal was this? Certainly not one I've referred to at any point. Are you going off on some weird tangent again?

Again, you're confusing policy with media. Again, I'll point out that our current policy with asylum seekers is one I have no problem with. Again, I'll repeat that it's media representation and ceratain threads that have appeared here that I'm addressing.

Hint- try reading the thread. It'll help.

I'm aware of that; this was part satire after all...

First off, not all Asians look like Japaneses, you have to be East Asians to have half a chance.

Secondly, Koreans look differently from Japaneses from Chinese, even if only subtly so.
Well doesn't the same apply to Britain? You'd have to be of Northern or Western European descent for the same thing to work in Britain; I would suspect that people of Southern or Eastern European descent (except maybe Ukrainians) would have the same problems.

You don't have a chance unless you look Japanese and speak native Japanese.
Again, aren't we talking the same thing with respect to Britain? If anything, it's probably easier for people from a wider range of backgrounds to get into Britain than into Japan. We make such a fuss about how difficult it is for people to immigrate to "white" countries, yet the most difficult places to immigrate to are not in fact white but asian - Japan, Hong Kong, Singapore, maybe Taiwan and South Korea (exception for S. Korea - North Koreans are allowed in without restriction, as in W. Germany and E. Germany of old). Why are there not sensitivity campaigns about asian racism and nativism? Where are all the people who think diversity is such a good idea when it comes to prosperous asian countries? Surely there must be plenty of Africans, other Asians and south Asians (Iranians and Afghans, for example) that would love to go to Japan. Why should they prefer Australia to Japan?

Besides, Koreans don't open bars in Japan, neither do the Chinese.
What's that got to do with it?

As I'm suffering from a terminal case of lazyass, has anyone asked the question about why anyone would want to enter, and remain, legally OR illegally?

surely you would agree that it is better for Britain to accept immigrants who speak the language over those who don't.
Actually, it's better if the state would get out of the business of telling people where to live and where not to live.

Talking of tag teams. I fail to see your point (presuming that is that you have a point), I am arguing a point. You don't (and you may want to take some notes here it might help you in later life) simply give up an argument because you opponent comes back with some (sharp) put downs (especially when they have consistently avoided the argument). You argue your case with vigour.

Now I appreciate that you want to ingratiate yourself with him, but jeering from the sidelines isn't going to improve your long term standing with anyone.

Thank you for your thought (I know how painful they can be for people like you).

Trying to be condescending again. Anyway I am talking about the proposals put forward by our Home Secretary for English lessons for people emigrating or seeking asylum in this country.
The actual policy not phantoms in the press (or indeed your head). Again another attempt to move the goal posts to hide the hideous holes in your rant.

I await (with great expectation)your explanations of the minutiae of the underlying meaning of you post.

I am sorry that I have upset you but throwing a tantrum isn't going to get us anywhere. How about some views on the subject, that might be novel.
