I would set up 3 seemingly private corporations, but secretly under government control. Call them 'Red', 'White', and 'Blue' for the purposes of this post. Red would set up it's headquarters in Bismark, North Dakota. Blue in Pierre, South Dakota. White could set up anywhere.

The Red and Blue corporation swould chose a minority group to target. It doesn't really matter if they are ethnic, racial, or political groups, just so long as Red opposes Blue and vice versa. They would lure these people in with lucrative contracts and paid relocation.

The White corporation would do the same, but by hiring anyone in North or South Dakota that didn't fit into the controlling minority, and relocating them someplace else.

All of the GNP that I could spare I would funnel into the Red and Blue corporations to promote an illusion of wealth and prestige. Neither corporation would actually produce anything, all the jobs would be busywork with no real purpose.

Then I would cede North Dakota to Germany, and South Dakota to France (hey, the capitols sound right) as a sign of good will towards the EU.

Quickly the situation would become desperate in each of the two states, as the government controlled corporations collapsed. There would be no real product produced, and no more 'free' money. A few discrete border incidents (incited by US agents) would cause war between Germany and France.

I would then get the UN to send in American forces as 'Peacekeepers' along the German/French borders. No need for a messy landing operation. NARF!

How far do you think missiles can fire ?? and what did you think I was talking about when I said "Go after Germany's Industry" .. ?? You don't need to hit every square meter of a country, to render its Industry near ineffective .. Transport, communications, and power stations ... BYE BYE Industry .. much easier to do this to Germany than the US .. and much much easier to do it to Holland than Germany .. (please please don't ask me if I know where Holland is .. yes yes yes)

Sure that would take a damn lot of missiles/air bombing .. are you saying that the US could not manufacture that amount ?? and do you think anybody would contemplate invading the entire EU or US for that matter, without first equipping themselves .. im assuming all this stuff .. In war, you do whatever is needed ..

I agree, Nuclear would certainly be much more effective .. but I was interested if we had any bold warmongers, who could formulate a plan for invasion using conventional ...

Any idea how much industry, transport and comm facilities, and powerstations Germany has? And how far they are spread apart? Any idea how long it will take to take out Germany's industrial capabilities with missiles alone, and how many missiles it will take? And any idea on exactly where you'll fire the missiles from? Hint: you can't fire them from the North Sea or Baltic because it will be too heavily defended.

And after you're done taking out Germany's indsutrial capabilities, you are 2 years into the war, costs will have risen too extremes (any idea how much cruise missiles cost), and the American people will protest (since it's clear that the US invaded Europe, not the other way around).

airbombing? from where exactly will you send aircraft to strike at the heart of Europe? Carrier based aircraft will be only avaliable in relatively small numbers, and they are inferior to European fighter aircraft. Bombers also won't stand much of a chance against the European airforces. Stealth aircraft are too expensive, too rare, and not powerful enough.

Sure you can. But it will hurt the US economy much more than the EU economy, if the US should adopt the strategy you proposed. It would cost way too much, and the American taxpayers won't stand for it.

A land based campaign from Russia will be a lot cheaper and a lot more effective.

IIRC, Tomahawk cruise missiles have a range of over a thousand miles. (I forget then mile/kilometer conversion).

Europe to US :

1) UE makes dirty comments about the international politics of USA.
2) UE orchestrate several attempt to enforce the decisions of UN onto USA. Of course, there is vetos everytime. So all the world see USA as a big bad boy that does not want rules aplied to it. In the same time, it makes UN even more impopular in US, and extreme-right militias gain more supports from population.
3) UE discretly help financially the gun lobby in USA, and sell weapons at low prices to militias.
4) "when F-16 and vacuum bombs weapons are outlawed, only outlaws have F-16 and vacuum bombs weapons" becomes the new motto of the gun lobby.
5) UE give also support to Black Panthers-like activists and extreme-left parties.
6) France nukes UK that gave US informations while Germany invades the non-targeted pieces of land of UK. It's of course called a "slight error during our final nuclear tests". German army was called here to "help the survivors getting out of the radioactive regions". Of course, only military targets are actually considered radioactive.
7) UE gives support to southern militas.
8) Now that blacks, commies, fascists, militias and KKK all got their weapons and there is a very big anti-UN feeling in the population, UE suggest that UN should send peacekeepers in US to help restablishing orders and make the riots cease.
9) UE leaders calmly put their asses in comfortable chairs while seeing USA imploding.
10) UE leaders frown when seeing USA becoming a huge atomic blast, then reming the last gun lobby's motto : "when atomic bombs are outlawed, only outlaws have atomic bombs".

Europe wins.
