  • I'm having a go at my own, following some of the guidelines here. With tweaking, it could be quite good.

I just played against a way-cool deck. Basically, it was about 170 cards, most of which (I later discovered) were land or library search. He had about 4 critical cards.

Firstly, he slaps down a Confessor. I think "aha - he plans to discard me, and gain life". No problem, I have some nice madnessess just waiting.

However, he then searches for and locates a Zombie Infestation (discard 2, add a 2/2 black zombie token). "Fine, he's playing discard his own and gain life. Tricky, not insurmountable". Then he whips out... Nefarious Lich! BBBB - Enchantment - If you are dealt damage, instead remove that many cards from your graveyard from the game. If you can't, lose the game. If you gain life, instead draw that many cards. When Nefarious Lich leaves play, you lose.

You see what this means? He can discard two for a zombie, gain two life, convert into two draws and repeat ad nauseum! The large deck meant, if he wanted, he could have had about 40 or 50 of the things! Add a sterling grove to prevent disenchanting, and he's laughing! Just for insult, throw in Yawgmoth's agenda after a fedw runs, and cast all those discarded spells anyway! Genius!

      • Bravo, Chowlett! That's THE way to go, my friend. Take every sugesstion here, mull them over, and design a deck that's built on concepts and cards YOU like best....run with it, bud, and good luck!

          • Trouble with that deck though, is that it's pure luck if the "search" cards come up. The odds of getting one on the draw are not so good with a 170 card spread. Novel approach, but a 60 card infinite recursion deck would blow it away....

            • I think he had a LOT of search cards of various kinds. I didn't get to check much as they all flew to the graveyard, but it struck me he wasn't short of them

                  • I wish I could participate more on this thread, but my main collection is at my mother's house since I moved out three years ago.

Plus, the last expansion I bought was Tempest. But I plan to get back into this great, fun, card game soon, I hope.

Magic the Gathering Online should be going live relatively soon. You might want to check it out.

Let me guess - they make you buy on-line card packs and whatnot, don't they?

                        Suckers.

Well.... ok, I've got some hundred odd magic cards myself.

                        • It's good, but I'll be stopping once I have to pay for my cards. I don't have the money for that kind of addiction.

If that's true I might have to give up my academic, social, and family life so I can spend my days on the Internet.

Bingo! And you may be shocked to know that cost is the same (actually more in most cases) than real cards. Be prepared for more such schemes.

                                Seriously? And I was joking...

Actually, it doesn't really surprise me. The magic cards I own are from when I was young and fell for all of that crap - had a ton of pogs and **** too.

There must be a free (and illegal) version of online Magic somewhere... I'd be surprised if there hasn't been a homemade version created by a fan.
