    Interestingly, the unrestricted GPS system has demonstrated a mean error of about 3.5 meters, but the following article says that Galileo will only be accurate to 5-10 meters. Will the real Galileo please come forward?

    KH: I think you guys ponied up some of the early money for Galileo. Watch what they're doing with your CDN$!!!
    I came upon a barroom full of bad Salon pictures in which men with hats on the backs of their heads were wolfing food from a counter. It was the institution of the "free lunch" I had struck. You paid for a drink and got as much as you wanted to eat. For something less than a rupee a day a man can feed himself sumptuously in San Francisco, even though he be a bankrupt. Remember this if ever you are stranded in these parts. ~ Rudyard Kipling, 1891

      I think it's worthwhile for the same reason that the recently proposed Canada-Cuba unification is: it comes in at just about a "10" on the American Piss-Off scale.

        See, you guys who think that the ROW's attitude toward the US is caused by "jealousy" are really missing the point. To the extent that there is undeserved antagonism, it's brought about by the same perverse urge that makes little boys throw rocks at hornet nests.

          You guys are welcome to unify with Cuba. Have at it.

          It would be great for the Canadian ice cube industry.

            GPS gives that kind of accuracy...oh you're not a US military user. (mean kid on Simpson's voice) HAAHAA!

              Whiskey Tango Foxtrot? I thought you were a smart boy. Since when is it an AOW if we mess with our sattilites?

              Don't worry though. They 51st state and Mont Tremblant and the stone-sack Brits will be taken care of...

                Galileo = not your sattelite.

                EDIT: Ah. You misread. My point is that ****ing with your own transmissions is not an AOW, while ****ing with the EU's would be.

US shuts down GPS for non-cleared (non-US/Turkish forces). US might do this but not be willing to start jamming EU sattelites' signals (which may or may not be possible, BTW) because that would constitute an AOW against owners of Galileo.

                  US seems to be worried that Galileo won't obey them, so this is obviously an important issue to Washington.

                        And what would the US do if it had to rely on EU satellites for GPS?

                        You're damned straight they'd put up their own network. EU's just being as suspicious as you would if positions reversed.

                          You are right...that would be an AOW.
