  • Is An AIDS Vaccine Ethical?

    Especially in Africa. Now before you get all monkey on me, lemme explain:

    1) It'd be far too expensive, especially considering that the cheapest remedy is already widely known and available to the world: the simple mindset that the people just have to stop screwing each other, plain and simple if they want to survive. Giving them a vaccine will only increase birth rates and therefore encourage the spread of the deadly disease among nutcakes who "think" they've recieved the treatment but really haven't due to a rather complicated mental condition, and of course reverse the doctrine even in healthy individuals that sex in that part of the world just has to go. Secondly;

    2) it encourages sex for pleasure, which naturally causes all sorts of hell to break loose when abused, and finally and most importantly;

    3) the amount of money we dish into AIDS research every year is taken directly away from much much more important things in the national budget. If it weren't for all this AIDS vaccine garbage, September 11th would never have happened, or at least might have easily been prevented by the CIA and FBI. Why? Because we'd have tighter airport security and background checks all over the place instead of test tubes in a couple of labs. So instead of rushing to something that would only result in more screwy sex and terrorist attacks, we should focus on more relevant issues that aren't caused directly by people's stupidity.

    Really, why don't we just develop a vaccine for drunks who ram their cars into walls at 80mph for fun? Ridiculous that WE have to suffer in many different aspects of life for the few "sex crazed" among us.

    Wiglaf is absolutely correct, as usually.

    Not only is giving Africans AIDS vaccines unethical, but it costs us (the children of taxpayers) lots and lots of money.

    We should instead level the continent, to stop human suffering.

      Seriously though, isn't airport security non-federal?

        That's quite a leap friend. You're going to blame September 11th on AIDS research? That's a pretty tough sell. Let's for a moment entertain the notion that the reason there wasn't tigher security was because no one was demanding it and that people were, and still are, in fact demanding a solution to the AIDS epedimic.

          1) Not having sex is not remedy to this desease, it's only a precaution. Besides many people get HIV though other means.

          2) "it encourages sex for pleasure" Is this something bad?? We are not animals, our purpose to have sex is not just to reproduce.

          3) Most of the funding to AIDS research comes from pharmaceutical companies and non-profit organizations, not from the federal bufget. Besides, a year ago politicans were debating how to get rid of the budget surplus, most people were proposing tax cuts or welfare packages not "tighter airport security and background checks all over". If the money were not spend on AIDS research it would be spent on tax cuts or welfare.

            Seeing as you'll never have sex in your life, I can see why this isn't exactly a priority for you.

            What would you say to the children born with AIDS?

              NOT ANYMORE IT ISN'T

              I didn't suggest that, I suggested THE INTRODUCTION OF A WIDELY KNOWN AND HEALTHY MINDSET, asher, not anything more or less. Verrry simple one step plan to success and prosperity.

              People weren't demanding more airport security because, in case you didn't notice in the wake of the Gary Condit scandal, sex and AIDS was all we could talk about last summer.

                It wasn't federal at the time, and Bush was sending everyone money in the mail in rebates.

                Hell, let's just flat out get to the point:
                Bush is directly responsible for September 11th, by sending rebates instead of beefing security.

                Perhaps we should just drop vials of smallpox on them, then? They're useless people! Maybe we could enslave them. There's an original idea.

                    The problem was people didn't want tigher security, no one was going to wait 2+ hours and the airport.

                    And who's controlling what we (you?) talk about anyway?

                    This is a silly troll.

                      A vaccine wouldn't help them very much, would it?

                      Uhh it would've been federal if we'd researched domestic security instead of AIDS enough to realize the guards were all half a sleep most of the time...

                      The rebates were a step in the right direction because they had nothing to do with sex like Gary Condit did. NOTHING TO DO WITH AIDS OR SEX = GOOD ANTI-TERRORISM POLICY.

                      So what about the summer before?

                      It only takes 3-5 months to put the government in charge of airport security. Actually much less, as the last few weeks have shown.

                        It would certainly stand a chance to help them. It'd need to be modified to be performed in the womb though...

                        Again, all signs point to your government, not AIDS research.

                        Let's face it, Wiglaf, George W. Bush is a Christian Terrorist. Him and his Allies of Evil are like Hitler and Stalin, crushing those who stand in their way. He intentionally blocked funding beefing up security because he enjoys watching **** like 9-11 on CNN while eating his pretzels.

                          you know, the most painless (for the rest of us) solution to having syrup around would be to hunt him down and kill him... just like his solution to deny africans a vaccine

                            If the disease can be eradicated with a vaccine, it would surely help children who would otherwise be born with AIDS.
