It would have been wrong to do it at any age. When i said thegirl was 18 i was trying to say the punishment should have been taken to her rather then her mom. And before asked bout the juvinille system here the school that these kids are sent to are basicly the same as the jails they are housed in.

How is it a stereotype when it was just shown to be correct?

People from the southern US generally condone corporal punishment, end of story.

It is a generalization, you can't say everyone is. But the culture accepts it, and therefore it's a hickish culture.

        the reasons don't matter.

Schools don't allow students to leave for a reason. For their own safety (and to protect themselves from lawsuits). Recently 3 girls died in a traffic accident when they left school to get lunch. This was commonly allowed in my city. Kids would usually go out and get fast food for lunch. Not anymore.

He has shown that a lot recently.

You also should know from past history how terrible such a comment to make is, and you should also know the person who made it was punished as well. You will be, too.

She says the beating she received for leaving campus to get breakfast was so severe she had to go to the emergency room.
SHE says she had to go to the emergency room. I could go to the hospital right now and demand they put me in a full body cast because I think I need it. I assure you I don't, but it would help with my lawsuit.

She is obviously a pansy anyways.

So I take it you don't consider yourself to be rational

                  That's abuse, not punishment.
you don't really believe she had to go to the emergency room do you. .

No, they're a liberal culture because they allow gay marriage.

Allowing gay marriage is part of the "liberal" generalization, beating kids in school with paddles is part of the "hick" generalization.

Failure at what, dicipline. Does that mean I have failed if I have to use grounding? Yelling? No dinner? It is simply another tool. One that obviously is used enough in this day and age.
Pat: When you spank someone, you are inflicting pain. When you ground someone, you are taking away a priveledge.

Safety from physical pain is not a priviledge. Your father was wrong and failed at what he did just as my grandfather did.

Corporal punishment is not one that i believe in. Nor do our schools here.(public that is). Imentioned earlier that if we as parents spank our kids we can get charged with child abuse. The states have taken alot of discpline methods out of the parents hands. The point im getting at is the girl was 18 an adult the principle shoul have been charged with assault and thrown in jail.

                              Which are both erroneous.
