Look there were 2 choices, either capture St. Petersburg with the Germans thus taking part of one of the worts atrocities and crimes against humanity or not taking part of it. We chose not to. No, mine was valid. You claimed that because you didn't destroy Leningrad, that you didn't partipate in cutting it off and starving it. That's like saying you didn't rape someone because you didn't murder them. One has nothing to do with the other. You starved Leningrad. You may have had cause. You may have been able to take the city (but I doubt it). But that doesn't detract from what you did do.
