I think that the fear is more for their children. Socialization has not been dismissed as a factor influencing sexuality, and fundies believe that homosexuality is a complete choice. They fear that the schools are promoting the homosexual life style, and that this promotion will socialize their children into believing that homosexuality is a legitimate lifestyle choice, a choice which, to them, is a ticket straight to hell.
