Explain that to the many MPs who have been expelled for disobedience over the years. Tell me, do we have parties for the purposes of the leaders, or the constituents?

There are votes you can go your own way on, and then there are the votes where the whip tells you you vote yea or you are toast in the party.

btw, Parrish never voted against, only said that she could care less if Martin won another election. The withholding of the signature on the nomination papers was trotted out as she was banished from caucus. IOW, she will run as an independant or not at all.

She was also popular among her constituents, for what it's worth.

What are the heads of your provinces called?
      Premiers, comrade.

How much tension is there between national and provincial parties?
Depends on the party. The federal NDP and the provincial parties are affiliated. None of the other provincial parties are affiliated with the national parties, and this includes the conservatives and liberals.

What's the story on your territories?
3 of them, all sparsely populated. 90K people in total.

They have 3 federal seats, and no provincial representation, per se.

Pretty much like the territories the US used to have, before they became states.

? Parties of the same name do not necessarily share the same views. BC provincial liberals does not equal federal liberals. Most provinces are two-party affairs. Ontario is a 3 party show. Alberta is ruled by the iron fist of the conservative party. Political dissent is nonexistent. Free speech is stifled. Minorities are gassed by the thousands. Some of these statements may be exaggerations.

What's the story on your territories?
they're all ridiculously far north and have ridiculously few people in them. there are three of them. Inuits form the majority in one of these territories and aren't far off a majority in the other two (IIRC)

The constituents of the MP should have the balls to reelect him if they agree with his stance. I see nobody to blame here except the voting public.

                          Speak for yourself!

While Canada has never had a civil war, they did have a couple of revolts which led to new colonies being established in Manitoba and Saskatchewan, IIRC.
There were actually several revolts over the years and if the French hadn't rose up against the British in the middle 19th century then my mother's family would never have decided to find greener pastures in Illinios. They were French Canadians and being on the losing side helps to motivate people to move on down the line.

Not at all the same taste.

The beef is generally covered by peppercorns whiule smoking IIUC. There is generally a black rind of their residue on the outside edges of the cut.

You sound very much like someone who doesn't give a damn how much the rich spend on elections to get their people elected.
