While I've ran into many white Memmonites, I haven't met a Kenyan who is one.

Christianity has been ingrained in Western thought since it's dominance. Along with it Jewsih thought hence Judeo-Christian. Religion played both helped and restricted scientific thought. In the Middle Ages, the Church created one of the few areas where philosophy could flourish.
Despite the common stereotype of the "kill the heathen" Catholic Church, the Midieval church was quite open to new ideas. True, they were mostly restricted to relgion and God, but few philosophies before modern times aren't. Christain thought laid the foundation of the more secular thought of the Renaissance. A casual look through Dante demonstrates this. Even then the Church didn't abolish science. Galileo is famous for demonstrating the Church's aversion to new ideas, but it is a half truth. Yes, he pissed off the Church. Not because he was preaching blasphomy (the Church did accept his ideas), but because the Church didn't feel that the public was ready to know this. This paternalism may show some restriction of science by the Church, but does not paint them as the creationist Bible-thumpers to later arise out of protestantism.
The early Catholic Church was quite aware of its role in Europe and the power it held. In fact, during its height, it acted more like a political empire than an overbearing theocracy. It was the Church's eventual lack of religious convinction in its actions that gave rise to several protestant sects. Those are your Bible-thumping loonies.“As a lifelong member of the Columbia Business School community, I adhere to the principles of truth, integrity, and respect. I will not lie, cheat, steal, or tolerate those who do.”

I think there was a library (not the same with the Great Library, though having similar roots) attached to it, but I doubt it was destroyed then.

The Christian Church intend to destory the Geat Library while the Pagon Roman didnot start the fire but actural fought the fire to save the library as did the Muslim who rush into the building to put out the fire and save scrolls and book
Or is it that there was the next fire, when muslims entered the city?
Why so, if Alexandria was in fact taken peacefully?
And why aren't You making yourself clear?

I've been thinking about this thread for a while, for several reasons.
One is, that I am annoyed by thoughts that religion, especially Christianity, is bound to go extinct
Also I was annoyed by black people turning Muslim because they found Christianity "too white"
And, last but not least, because I find it ABSOLUTELY AMAZING, incredible, fascinating, what happens in several places in the world.
The one I give a link to is Africa. But also in other places, like in Korea, we could witness a triumphal march of the Christian faith.
The fact that I post this thread only now, is due to that I did not quite believe the fact.
I've seen a map of religions in Africa in 1900 and one in 2000, but the second one I did not find quite reliable, and the first one was too Christian - optimistic in some parts as well.
However, it seems to be true.
Sub-Saharean Africa is Christian now!
Enjoy.
You can't blame africans to be "anti white" since it's a proven fact that only white christians captured slaves. Noone accepts the fact that african kingdoms sold slaves to both christian and muslims. Not even the fact that the white trade of african slaves started later and ended earlier than the arab ditto has any effect. With or without religion, you would have good people doing good things and evil people doing evil things. But for good people to do evil things, that takes religion.

You are annoyed that religion is to be extinct, well, that's your opininion, i think it's fine no matter what religion.
For if there is no religion, there is no atheism either.

Secondly, ever hear of Zanzibar? Africans did trade slaves to each other, and to the Moslems long before the Christians came. What would happen is that the coastal tribes would take slaves from inland tribes, and sell the slaves off to Europeans.Scouse Git (2) La Fayette Adam Smith Solomwi and Loinburger will not be forgotten.

The Triumph of Ignorance is more like it.Christianity: The belief that a cosmic Jewish Zombie who was his own father can make you live forever if you symbolically eat his flesh and telepathically tell him you accept him as your master, so he can remove an evil force from your soul that is present in humanity because a rib-woman was convinced by a talking snake to eat from a magical tree...

No. Atheism is not the lack of religion, but a lack of belief in a deity or a group of deities.
