  • A great thread. AH serious for once (and bang on target IMO), interesting comments and rebuttals, and the lefties firmly sticking their heads up theirs asses and humming. Personally, I hope they continue to do so. The thought of another burke like Kerry coming along in 08 makes me sick.

Christianity: The belief that a cosmic Jewish Zombie who was his own father can make you live forever if you symbolically eat his flesh and telepathically tell him you accept him as your master, so he can remove an evil force from your soul that is present in humanity because a rib-woman was convinced by a talking snake to eat from a magical tree...

      • I came upon a barroom full of bad Salon pictures in which men with hats on the backs of their heads were wolfing food from a counter. It was the institution of the "free lunch" I had struck. You paid for a drink and got as much as you wanted to eat. For something less than a rupee a day a man can feed himself sumptuously in San Francisco, even though he be a bankrupt. Remember this if ever you are stranded in these parts. ~ Rudyard Kipling, 1891

The group who liked or at least could stand Bush was simply larger than the Kerry group. There is a hole between them which you could drive a truck through. Imagine if John McCain had run as an independant candidate for president and had as much money as Kerry did. I think he would have given both Bush and Kerry a run for their money.
This basicly sums up the reality of the situation. We got every single leftist vote there was to get in the country and we still lost. If we move further left then we don't pick up a single new vote and we likely lose more moderates. Move slightly center and we will still have the leftists but we'll pick up enough moderates to win.

Kerry got 40% of the vote even in such deep south states as Mississippi. If Kerry can play so well in the deep south then a centrist, especially a southern centrist, stands a very good chance of winning even in the south.
