We get wildly different views from Canadians on poly. We don't know what to believe when the Canadians square off against each other in these threads.

We have so much free disscussion that its spilling out over the rims. May not be so plessant to hear 90 percent of the time but it's free. (after tv and radio have gotten their cut of course)

If you are implying that more leverage can be exerted against smaller trading partners, you are right. This is one of the distinct advantages of staying intact.
That's exactly my point. Well, more precisely, more leverage can be exerted against multiple trading partners, but yes.

I didn't expect anything else from a moron like you. You have absolutely no clue about the political, legal, cultural and historical factors involved and yet you come here trolling like a *****.

Despite all of this, though, a majority of French Canadians would vote YES (56-58%) and are only held back by the Anglo minority. The national sentiment is here to stay, and I don't see it significantly going down in the next 10 or 20 years.
And of course, in the South, a majority of White Americans would vote YES to secession if only they weren't held back by the Black minority.

btw, I'm a little bit impressed that Saskatchewan is about to join the haves. They've been CCF or NDP for a good portion of the time that Alberta has been Social Credit or Tory. We went balls out on oil (and have more of it, most likely) they have not encouraged exploration (but they have encouraged other mineral extraction).
Half of Saskatchewan's native sons and daughters moved to Alberta (so the story goes) but still they plod along and are managing to get things done.
Nova Scotia is next.
We can hope but NS has many challenges considering that their offshore industry has stagnated. For example, the Canadian Association of Petroleum Producers CAPP) just closed their Halifax office. Thats only 2-3 jobs but its more an indicator of the industry's view of the area. Note that the CAPP office in NL remains open.
Actually NL is making a bid to pull itself into the "have" category with the elimination of transfer clawbacks on its oil revenue. Basically they are asking for the chance to get ahead. Otherwise they have nots can be like the welfare family that has a dollar deducted from their benefits for every dollar they earn

I think it's a tribute to the good job the NDP has done here. Either that or it's a pathetic display by most of the rest of Canada I think we have like the lowest percentage of taxpayers in our population here!
Once you start down the dark path, forever will it dominate your destiny, consume you it will, as it did Obi Wan's apprentice.
That's because all of the taxpayers keep heading a province west for a real job.

I think it would be a great loss for Canada and Quebec if Quebec seperated. I appreciate the presence of French culture in Canada. That being said, I think the policys of appeasement are ridiculous.
These figures include proposed additional payments to Equalization-receiving provinces announced in Budget 2004, subject to passage of authorizing legislation.
Really. So BC is screwed?
Look at your own source!
They are increasing the payments, so BC will receive more, even if their economic situation improves.
Secondly, Alberta and Ontario are booming. If BC falls further behind both, then they will continue to receive equalisation payments. This doesn't mean that things aren't getting better here.

Calgary is the cleanest major city in the world, and also beautiful.
You just get paid more, enjoy far lower crime rates, far lower taxes, and enjoy a lower cost of living.
And it doesn't rain in Calgary 364.9 days a year.
FWIW, Calgary and Vancouver have identical temperatures right now as well.
Except Vancouver is raining and Calgary is not.
