Ted and I are the realists here, alas.

You only view it as pessimistic because it's not what you want.

Well, if you're going to put it that way then you're just as biased as I am because it is what you DON'T want.

"And there will be strange events in the skies--signs in the sun, moon, and stars. And down here on earth the nations will be in turmoil, perplexed by the roaring seas and strange tides. The courage of many people will falter because of the fearful fate they see coming upon the earth, because the stability of the very heavens will be broken up. Then everyone will see the Son of Man arrive on the clouds with power and great glory. So when all these things begin to happen, stand straight and look up, for your salvation is near!" --Luke 21:25-28

At least I'm not so biased enough to say that Linux and/or Mac OS will someday take 95% of the market share in operating systems and leave Windows with 5%. No, I don't think that will ever happen. Windows has it's strong points ( such as in video games) and will need to play on it's strenghts in the future if it's going to survive.

But Linux and Mac OS have their strengths, too, such as better security features and ease of use, and will need to play on these strenghts in order to take a substanstial amount of market share away from MS.

Realisticly, I see Linux and/or Mac OS taking at least half of the OS market share in the future and perhaps even up to a 1/3 each.

Personally, I would like see like to see the market look something like this:

        Windows: 33%
        Linux: 33%
        Mac OS: 33%
        Other: 1%

        GO WINDOWS!
        GO LINUX!
        GO MAC OS!
        GO OTHERS!
        HAVE A DAY.

Pessimists = Ted Striker, Asher, Q Cubed, Others

          can't spell, can ya?

          1. it's sayonara. romanization of each syllable: sa•yo•na•ra.
          2. it's smartalec. the clean version of smartass.

how are you a realist? you keep saying things like "the new imac is fully expandable" when it clearly isn't. how am i a pessimist? i say things like:
          1. the powermacs are beautiful things.
          2. linux is a great os, one that is wonderful to use, but not ready for joe user.
          3. windows xp is the best windows yet.
          4. mac os x has a lot of nice features.
          5. every os has its place and its uses. i personally am platform agnostic.

in fact, the only really negative things i ever say about apple have to do with:
          1. style: imacs, ipod minis, g4 cubes, and those damn circle mice are the worst things ever, but mac fanbois like you think they're the best thing since sliced bread.
          2. ads and pr: apple has the snootiest, most arrogant ad campaign, and doesn't give hard facts or numbers when they do their comparisons. and when they do give numbers, they're often comparing apples to oranges.

of course, because i deviate from the Gospel of Jobs, and actually tear into Apple by butchering its sacred cows, you think I hate Apple entirely and think nothing good comes out of it.

honestly, i doubt that you'll ever see a 33% breakdown between all the OSes. of course, since you ignore my posts and refuse to answer them, mr. nice guy, because you have huge misconceptions of me... particularly since you're blinded by the Fruit, you're not going to see this either.

I've read and am replying to this because I very darn well feel like it.

              Huh?

              BTW. . .
              1. I do believe that every OS has it's strengths and it's weaknesses.
              2. I do believe that every OS deserves credit when and where it is due.
              3. I do believe that there is no such thing as an OS that is perfectly suited for everyone.
              4. I do believe that different OSes are suited for different uses.
              5. I do believe that when choosing an OS people should be able to make a choice depending on how they are going to use their computer.
              6. I do believe that Linux and Mac OS has not had enough time to show their true colors.
              7. I do believe that it is consumers, not businesses that matter the most in a free-market economy.
              8. I do believe that when companies compete in a fair and balanced manner, consumers always win!

i challenge you to ask anybody who's seen me in the non-mac computer threads. in fact, i dare you. you'll see that i only bash Apple over a few things.
prove to me that you weren't wrong in your shallow understanding of me.

note that I've never really bashed the Mac OS. i leave that to Asher, and Asher knows that I disagree with him much of the time.

so again, prove to me that I've ever been anything different. prove to me that I've ever seriously bashed anything that Apple has done outside of the moronic imacs, the stupid ipod minis, the retarded g4 cubes, and their annoying ads. prove to me that other than the times i've deliberately trolled you, i've ever had anything against apple.

                the onus is on you.

and you still haven't explained how the new imac is "fully expandable".

why do you think asher and a whole slew of other people laughed at you after you ignored me? i'll give you a hint: it wasn't just 'cause i was having fun and great success at trolling the Apostle of Steve. it's because in your zeal to push the Gospel of Jobs, anybody who pointed out big flaws in your reasoning had to be dealt with. anyone who zestfully devoured your sacred cows in tiny little holyburgers had to be removed from your worldview.

prove to me that i've done what you think i've done: bash apple for no good reason at all. don't take the coward's way out and just point the finger at me.

Ok, I read your posts in that thread. I found lots of foul language and nothing to indicate this "different" point-of-view that you've pointed out to me.

BTW, the strong language in your posts gives me the feeling that you're not truly being honest of what you speak of; instead you sound like you're just trying to put on your own show by making fun of me and other posters. It's not good form at all.
