It's pretty pathetic that you'd consider saying "voted against" instead of "opposed as SecDef" (when the latter phrase is a lot more cumbersome) partisan in some way.

As disingeneous as these speakers are, the sad reality is that the Kerry campaign has been utterly flat for a whole month-the entire month of August he has been attacked by lies, slander and everything else by the right, and the replies have been weak and timid, and the repugs are doing a goood job passing along their mischaracterizations of Kerry than Kerry is of getting back on message.
If Kerry looses this election, it will be thanks to his campaigns inability to combat the crap coming from the repugs.

I think it has everything to do with the fact that his campaign staff decided to hang their whole campaign on him being a war hero instead of just talking the issues...
What issues has Bush talked about? 9/11 and 9/11, and 9/11, and 9/11
Elections are no longer about issues- people don't care about issue anymore- they say they do, but can't be arsed to do **** about anything or actually look at them.
Elections are now prepackaged commercials, and that is where the Kerry campaign has been pityfully weak- they have to slam Bush on Iraq- and say why kerry will be better. They have to slam Bush on his eocnomic record and give the reason why.
Negative ads work-negative speeches are too long and may turn off, but negative ads are very effective. The dems are also not using free media effectively.
God, what a bunch of morons are running this campaign!

Why do you guys even bother with GePap? He's a virulent partisan hack, the lowest of the low, not worthy of anyone's time or effort.
I agree.
And a biased debater at best. Politically biased people are not really true Americans. Go back to Panama, GePap, where you belong.
Oh, and uh, congratulations! You've won yourself a trophy, GePap! Yep, that's right! You've earned your own little place on Mr. Nice Guy's ignore list, right along side Asher and Q Cubed. Welcome to the club!
HAVE A DAY.
<--- Quote by Former U.S. President Theodore "Teddy" Roosevelt
"And there will be strange events in the skies--signs in the sun, moon, and stars. And down here on earth the nations will be in turmoil, perplexed by the roaring seas and strange tides. The courage of many people will falter because of the fearful fate they see coming upon the earth, because the stability of the very heavens will be broken up. Then everyone will see the Son of Man arrive on the clouds with power and great glory. So when all these things begin to happen, stand straight and look up, for your salvation is near!" --Luke 21:25-28
For the Lord himself will come down from heaven with a commanding shout, with the call of the archangel, and with the trumpet call of God. First, all the Christians who have died will rise from their graves. Then, together with them, we who are still alive and remain on the earth will be caught up in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air and remain with him forever. --1 Thessalonians 4:16-17
GePap's fun. Its all the give and take that makes this a lively distraction.

I don't think any political debate this week will be useful. As far as I can tell, both sides here have been butting heads and gaining no ground no matter who made the better point, because when they did, the other side wasn't listening in the first place.
Anyways, I'm just giving the Arkansan side here. Unless something as obvious as Mr. Nice Guy attacking minorities comes along, I suggest we all wait for when it's over, unless some of us like banging our heads against walls.
Little Rock (AP) - The wife of Democratic vice presidential hopeful John Edwards (websitebio) said America's military
healthcare system is not geared up to handle the fallout from war.
Elizabeth Edwards was in North Little Rock Thursday to discuss the issue with a group of veterans and military dependents. Mrs. Edwards criticized the Bush administration for closing some veterans hospitals, downsizing services at others and raising the
costs of services for military personnel, veterans and their families.
She said Democrat John Kerry (website/newsbio) would work toward universal coverage for military families as president.
Mrs. Edwards also says a Kerry administration would work more closely with U.S. allies to restore security and economic control of Iraq to Iraqis.

It doesn't sound like you're happy about this. Maybe you should consider not voting for politicians who contribute to this.

Well, then you are in for a treat tonight. Bush's acceptance speech is expected to lay out the domestic agenda for the 2nd term. So, you'll get to hear Bush talk about something other than 9-11.
'There is a greater darkness than the one we fight. It is the darkness of the soul that has lost its way. The war we fight is not against powers and principalities, it is against chaos and despair. Greater than the death of flesh is the death of hope, the death of dreams. Against this peril we can never surrender. The future is all around us, waiting, in moments of transition, to be born in moments of revelation. No one knows the shape of that future or where it will take us. We know only that it is always born in pain.'"
G'Kar - from Babylon 5 episode "Z'ha'dum"
Maybe this election is going to be different from other elections, but historically challengers have needed an 18 point advantage, on average, coming out of their own convention in order to when the election. Kerry had a three to five point advantage after his convention. Not enough.
Now, even going into the Republican convention, Bush has a small lead. Given the ferocity of the attacks on Kerry we have heard, and even before we hear Bush's speech tonight, I suspected Bush will receive a significant bounce out of this convention. Thus in order to win the election, Kerry is going to have to make up perhaps a 10 point lead by Bush.
I think they're only two possible ways for Kerry to do this. First is to decisively win the debates. And second, is to somehow have events turn very bad for Bush. One such negative event could be the economy going into a steep recession again. Greenspan has been doing everything possible to to push economy again into recession by raising interest rates. But the greatest danger for Bush is for something to go very wrong in Iraq.
Of these dangers for Bush, I think the economy remains the greatest danger because I think it may be going into recession again thanks to Greenspan and his interest rates hikes.

Will it be the real conservative agenda or the fake compassionate agenda?
Real conservative agenda
1) Even lower taxes for the rich.
2) Attack Iran
3) More spending on defense
4) Patriot Act 3
Fake compassionate agenda
Well who cares? It's fake.
