On the other hand, it hasn't touched the Conservatives in the polls.

Didn't this news just come out? If so, I wouldn't expect to see any changes in the polls for at least a short time.

      this does send a message.

A very stupid message that we'll be petty to anyone who disagrees with us... calling it a 'concerted attack' on Americans everywhere in the process.

So wait, an opposition leader now cannot 'lead a concerted attack on' the PM'? WTF?!

Howard can attack Blair all he wants. When he turns his back on his former friends in America and attacks America's #1 ally on the international stage, however, he should expect some sort of response. And such a response is definitely not uncalled for, let alone petty.

Yes, it is petty. You disagree so we won't listen, nyah, nyah. It's even more petty than the Schroder treatment.

Hmmm, attacking America's #1 ally on the international stage... why, that's Tony Blair! But wait, you said he could attack Blair all he wants! Stop spewing the crap, Drake. You contradicted yourself in one sentandce.

You know, repeating "it's petty" over and over again doesn't make it anymore true.

I didn't contradict myself at all. Howard is free to attack Blair. When he does, however, there are bound to be consequences. Not a difficult idea to comprehend, especially for a law student who is supposed to be good at reading and understanding.

BTW, this whole "Howard only offered a contrary opinion" line is pure chicanery. Howard led a concerted attack on Blair, the Bush administration's most valuable ally in the War on Terror. He didn't just voice a dissenting opinion.
True, but isn't that what the opposition party is supposed to do? Kerry wants to unseat Bush, is this how Bush really views people? Agree with me or I hate you? Makes me wonder if the Valerie Plame thing was intentional or just an honest mistake.

He's the leader of the opposition. It's his job to attack the government. The idea that the Iraq War should be 'taboo' is ridiculous.

It puts Howard in a bind with the members of his own party. Read the article. Top Tory members are already flying to New York to try to patch things up with the Republicans. The Bushies have weakened Howard's support within his own party just by doing something as simple as refusing to deal with him.
More like put distance between he and his party from the possible attack that they would be worse than Labour when it comes to foreign affairs.

You really have no idea how Iraq has played outside of the US, have you?

It's hard to deal with the truth, isn't it Drake? I guess you share that quality with the Bush Administration.

Bush should declare Kerry persona non grata!

Yeah, apparently pettiness from an American administration which feels it should be immune from criticism.
