Sorry, ML. I think you'll find a fairly large number of American liberals here. Not to mention an even larger number of American moderates (and even the occasional conservative) who are supporting Kerry.

It is apolyton as well, so whatever is expressed here is most definetly the minority everywhere else.

One of the biggest problems here is that while we have had vetern presidents, none has leaned on it as much as Kerry. We all know about Bush Sr's submarine rescue, but he hardly said anything about it. Very little about Carter's Navy years other than he was in the Navy at one point. Even Kennedy, who is basically what Kerry wants to be but isn't, didn't make it the center of his campaign.

About the only modern president that made it the centerpeice is Ike, and well he was freaking Eisenhower for Christ' sake.

What people want to hear is that a candidate has the fortitude to defend America. Details are not so important. What Che said about WWII having more reverance than later wars is correct. No modern candidate fought SS panzer divisions. They were beyond reproach. So Kerry becomes the first to do it without WWII fame. If he hadn't written his book, or publicly told his "story" at so many events he would just be a veteren. He brought it on himself, and a good thing too because it is reveiling as hell.

actually, i'm not supporting kerry... i'm attacking coulter. bush can go **** himself for all i care, since he's lost my vote, but that does not equate to supporting kerry.

I think querying medals is pretty pathetic.

The reality is most people, the overwhelming majority in fact, who deserve bravery decorations don't get them and those that do tend to see it as something they accept on behalf of those they served with, not just for themselves.
