When I was born, there was only one Communist country, the Soviet Union. The East Bloc did not fall until 1948, 49, and 50 for Asia.

When I serve in the Navy, we knew who the enemy was and it was Communism. When I was in Korea my gun was loaded and I was told to shoot first and then we would fine out it was OK.

For Diss., I worked on the Enterprise when you were 3 years old.

In comparison to every other Latin American strongman he's been an angel.

This doesn't mean that in absolute terms he hasn't demonstrated complete disregard for what should be people's fundamental civil liberties, and (in the days immediately following the fall of the Batista regime) a taste for murderous revenge.

But all in all, the number of domestic deaths you can lay directly at the door of Castro in the 40 years he's been in power is somewhere shy of 3000

This is in a region of the world where hundreds of thousands have been known to "disappear" under certain governments.

And in addition he has shown genuine regard for his people's health and welfare.

So while he's a son of a ***** for some things he's done, he's a lot better than any of the likely alternatives were....

And it's not like the people leaving didn't have good reason to fear, seeing as they'd tortured, butchered, and robbed the Cuban people for generations. I have never said Batista was good. But in early days of Castro, lots of people disappear. They suffer under Batista and they suffer under Castro.
