What's wrong with abortion? It's no more immoral than any other kind of surgery. I had a mole removed once. No big deal. Just another piece of human tissue snipped away.
Christianity: The belief that a cosmic Jewish Zombie who was his own father can make you live forever if you symbolically eat his flesh and telepathically tell him you accept him as your master, so he can remove an evil force from your soul that is present in humanity because a rib-woman was convinced by a talking snake to eat from a magical tree...

did the mole have a nervous system, digits, and the potential to being a viable human being?

I guess we need to make these titles all politically correct for the dopes out there.

Is that specific enough for you?

                No, no, yes.

However, not all "things" aborted have a nervous system or digits.

This shirt is distasteful. It's like a guy killing someone in self-defense and then wearing a shirt trumpeting it.

I'm tempted to browse the NRA's website now that you mention that.

Only if you are equating an abortion with killing a human being. Which is of course the very crux of the issue.

and we shouldn't kill bacteria because they have the "potential" to evolve into advanced civilizations!

that's why the key word is "potential"...

except a fetus will develop into a viable human being in less than a year, while the bacteria, with their short lifespans and prodigious breeding habits would likely blossom into an advanced civilization before you could clean it off the plate in the back of the fridge.

However, not all "things" aborted have a nervous system or digits.

this is true. that said, it's still a human life, meaning it's more than a "thing".

the only reason why i even joined this tired discussion is because i am one of those pro-choice pro-life people that ozzykp don't think exist.

My sperm has the potential to be a human being. Does this mean throwing it away on a tissue is murder? Potential human beings are not human beings. Anyway, the mole had nerve endings and eventually I'm sure technology will be developed to clone people from extrenious tissue.

Actually, may develop is more accurate. Many zygotes and fetuses sponteniously abort. Hell, all birth control does is keep the zygote from implanting, so if you're seriously opposed to abortion, you should be opposed to the pill as well.

your sperm didn't have all the necessary chromosomes. a fertilized egg/zygote/fetus does.

the mole did not have a full nervous system that was self-contained. it connected to yours.

the technology to clone people from extraneous tissue has not arrived yet, which means that the mole did not have the potential to become a viable human being in a year, whereas the fetus does through a natural process.

Not necessarily. That simply means the potential cannot be realised at this point in time, not the potential does not exist.
