I should buy my ticket pretty soon because I'll probably be visiting a few other spots while I'm over there -- maybe Singapore and/or Shanghai, so I need to start firming up my plans and making reservations.

I'm guessing that if we leave the U.S. on Sept. 20th, we'll probably get to Cebu on Sept. 21st. I can use that as a firm date, right? You also mentioned taking a jet boat from Cebu. Does it run seven days a week, or are there days we should avoid travelling.?

IIRC you mentioned earlier a huge fiesta street dance on . . . was it the 29th?? I probably leave after that to visit the other places.

WTF? Is there a 'poly trip to the Philippines in the works? I'm moving there next month -- into a 3-bedroom luxury condo, courtesy of Uncle Sam -- and I think it would be hilarious if I went to my first Poly meet halfway around the world.

Incidently, those prices have us doing cartwheels. My daughter enters high school next month; by the time we leave Manila, I expect to have most of her college tuition -- and I'm counting on Ivy League tuition -- in the bank. Woo-hoo!

Zkribbler, Dolores and I will get together and figure this one out in the next few days. Then it depends on availability. On second thought there might be an easier way. If you can fly Philippine airlines into Manila (from wherever) you can get a connecting flight to Tagbilaran without switching airports (which you would have to do with any other airline). That eases things up as you could call us from wherever with your schedule and we could have you met at Tag's tiny airport. We can talk on the phone about this stuff. As soon as Dolores and I get some time off together we'll be calling.
My first trip I did alone, flying into Manila, switching to the domestic airport by bus, flying to Cebu, taking a taxi to the port (the taxi driver could have been taking me to hell, I'd have never known) and getting the jet boat to Tagbilaran, then bus to Jagna. That was a major pain in the ass but I managed without too much trouble. We're going to set up something with alot less hassle for you.

Che, only the very bottom of Mindanao is trouble, and not all of it. For instance the large city of Zamboanga is a catholic city amid Moslem rural areas. You have a better chance getting run over at home than messed with in Bohol. If you want to be scared though, whatever...

Rufus, missed your post for a sec. Yes, we hope to have 2 or three Polyites, maybe 4... On the island of Bohol. You can take a cruise ship from Manila if you like. Takes 34 hours to Tagbilaran iirc. A cabin costs $30, maybe $35 by now. You can look up the boat schedules at Negros Navigation's site, or WG&A's. Doulble check the schedules in Manila though. They have a bad habit of changing them and not changing their site.
