Well, as I said to you before, there is no absolute morality, so we have to go with what the prevailing majority thought at the time. Of course, this can make some past moral judgments look wrong compared to our eyes, but who knows what our socieites do that will look wrong in generations to come. That's the way it is.

Beyond society, beyond culture there are morals that bear no transgression. It is wrong to kill the innocent regardless of majority thought. It is wrong to oppress the weak. Every human that is self-aware and sentient has rights based on that awareness. We are individual unique beings that in all the history of universe have never existed before and shall never exist again. Our human rights and responsibilities derive from that simple, sobering thought. We have a right to free speech, to life, to education, to freedom of worship, to be treated respectfully when deserving. We have a responsibility to protect society's downtrodden, to treat others equally, to develop ourselves fully as individuals. There's no Heaven, no Hell, no eternal justice and a loving God to care for us. We have a responsibility and a right to see justice and fairness in this life because this life is all we get.
And above all morality, guiding everything there stands the one rule: Treat others as you would have them treat you. I would not deny you your expressions of love and commitment and you have no right to deny me mine.
