Of course, this can make some past moral judgments look wrong compared to our eyes, but who knows what our socieites do that will look wrong in generations to come. That's the way it is.
Do you honestly go about your day in the view that your actions may be judged immoral based on random and meaningless swings in demographic cultural polling?

Beyond society, beyond culture there are morals that bear no transgression. It is wrong to kill the innocent regardless of majority thought. It is wrong to oppress the weak. Every human that is self-aware and sentient has rights based on that awareness. We are individual unique beings that in all the history of universe have never existed before and shall never exist again. Our human rights and responsibilities derive from that simple, sobering thought. We have a right to free speech, to life, to education, to freedom of worship, to be treated respectfully when deserving. We have a responsibility to protect society's downtrodden, to treat others equally, to develop ourselves fully as individuals. There's no Heaven, no Hell, no eternal justice and a loving God to care for us. We have a responsibility and a right to see justice and fairness in this life because this life is all we get.

And above all morality, guiding everything there stands the one rule: Treat others as you would have them treat you. I would not deny you your expressions of love and commitment and you have no right to deny me mine.
Exult in your existence, because that very process has blundered unwittingly on its own negation. Only a small, local negation, to be sure: only one species, and only a minority of that species; but there lies hope. [...] Stand tall, Bipedal Ape. The shark may outswim you, the cheetah outrun you, the swift outfly you, the capuchin outclimb you, the elephant outpower you, the redwood outlast you. But you have the biggest gifts of all: the gift of understanding the ruthlessly cruel process that gave us all existence [and the] gift of revulsion against its implications.

@PA: Would it kill you to tell what you meant with the vigilantes remark?

If yes, I suggest you tell us straight away.
Why can't you be a non-conformist just like everybody else?

First off if this will pass, they need to fix the language, "Marriage in the United States shall consist only of the union of a man and a woman." There are ways to get around this . . .

Now for the serious stuff, aren't there more important issues to deal with then marriage? Every other issue that is there is more important then marriage. We have Iraq, Economy, invasion of privacy problems (patriot act), the whole world mad at us, etc. There are more pressing issues and anyone who brings this up is doing so in a politically motivated way. And if they disagree they are liars and should crawl into a corner and die.

Next it is too late to protect the sanctity of marriage. You should first off make divorces illegal, BEFORE anything is said about protecting the sanctity of marriage. I would like to know out of all those who support this, how many and which have had divorces. If any of them have divorced they are the biggest hypocrits in the world and resign from their job in shame and again crawl into a corner and die.

Finally there is supposed to be a separation between church and state. Anyone who uses religeon to justify that marriage is between a man and a women should again resign in shame. It is unfortunate that so many decision makers are corrupt and use religeon as an influence on their policies.

We need a law making it illegal to use religeon as an influence to ones self with a max penalty of life in jail. Even though such a law would be unenfforceable

May George Bush rot in hell.

            i) Great proof!

ii) A homophobe is someone scared of gays, I'm not. It would take a pretty weak person to be.

Half of my pleasure in seeing society progress forward lies in righting wrongs. The other half comes from seeing social conservatives pissed off.
