    • Wikipedia has an excellent Ken Jennings entry.

Spoiler Warning: At the bottom of the page
      Spoiler:

In a rumor disclosed Wednesday, September 8, 2004, two sources who were allegedly at the taping said that Jennings had lost on his 75th episode, taped the day before, with total winnings around US$2.5 million.

The incident was reported by TV Week and the Associated Press, appearing in hundreds of newspapers across the United States.

The alleged failing episode will not be shown until at least late November 2004. Since Game 70 was shown on November 9, and the College Championships run through Tuesday, November 23, the 75th airing will most likely occur on Tuesday, November 30. If the show is pre-empted again for Thanksgiving programming, then the alleged episode will not occur until Wednesday, December 1.

To make it more difficult for viewers to keep track of Ken's progress towards his final episode, in early September 2004 the show's announcer, Johnny Gilbert, ceased mentioning the number of games that Jennings has won, as had been the show's custom.

Regardless, Jennings would tie Ian Lygo's record of 75 appearances on a game show if he lasts (Lygo won his 75th game and was retired by the show's producers).

        • There is Who Wants to Be A Super-Millionare which goes to $10 mil.
Really? Or is this a joke of some sort?

I'm curious since in Finland we have a "Who want's to be a Millionare" where the highest prize you can get is €200k (about $150k).

            @ definition of "million".

How much is left after taxes? $1.59?

                      • I've said it before (see further up in the thread) Jennings is weak on war. Specifically ww2. and in today's category. He's weak on general Patton. He just lost a bundle in a daily double!

okay I'm nice enough to use spoiler tags now.

final category is business and industry.

holy cow! he actually lost! gasps from the audience!

what did him in: not knowing Seinfeld. Weak on WW2 (specifically general Patton), and not kowing sports arenas. It's been quite a run. I really like the guy- from what I've seen. He's had a good strategy throughout. It would include a good strategy tonight if he got the daily doubles correct. It's the daily doubles that usually puts him out of reach. But he missed both daily doubles in double jeopardy. That left him within reach for final jeapardy.

The final jeopardy was a clue about 80,000 white collar workers that only work 4 months a year in a sesonal company.
