  • i just find it bothersome how the three sci-fi shows i watch (Enterprise, StarGate, and Andromeda) have been trashed so much in this thread... why do yall not like them? are they silly? badly acted? too mainstream?

Enterprise: a show poorly executed that suffers hugely because of the fact that it's linked to the star trek franchise, crippling it and the show because of its shoddiness.

Stargate: never seen that many episodes, because they were never broadcast on decent hours. what i did see, i kinda liked, but not enough to make me want to stay up to 1am to watch, nor set my vcr to tape.

Andromeda: has plenty of good episodes, but then it has a few bad ones: space zombies, anyone?

Nein. Sorry 'bout how I worded that post, but just like I'm not married to Enterprise, just to its Star Trek relation, I don't know yet if i'll like Atlantis or watch it just 'cause it's Stargate.

      I haven't seen it advertised.
They've just started reving up the hype machine with clips from the first episode and shorter tidbits from later in the season, possibly mixed with SG-1 footage as well. Before, they were just using a clip of the point-of-view racing under water towards a submerged stargate that looked different from normal stargates.

Which channel is it on and when does it air?
Starts airing in July on SciFi.
The cake is NOT a lie. It's so delicious and moist.

The Weighted Companion Cube is cheating on you, that slut.

      • one episode i saw had them on a planet that drugged them into loving living on this planet
        The copied it from TOS.

The villain needs to be something of an antihero. Bad yet bad for a reason. Love to hate him. Someone like Darth Vader or maybe SCORPIUS.

But Scorpius, now he is a proper villain.

Stormtrooper tactics are fine. And, unlike the Borg, they've actually WON ground combat before. Ever watched TESB? Notice the big ground battle on Hoth?

The Borg would be even worse off than Stormtroopers there - they have NO protection against kinetic weapons, unlike Stormtrooper armor.

In favorable terrain!? What an excuse for an entire legion of the Emperor's best troops to be massacred by teddy bears.

to this stupid argument. Just enjoy the movies.

                  • How effective do you think large personnel carriers are going to be in a forest? Plus the fact that the Ewoks know the terrain and blend in.

In an out and out battle, the Empire completely owns everyone. Like Hoth.

                    • Yes, the Empire owns everyone. Except when Lucas decides they don't. Just like the Federation owns everyone, except when the ST screenwriters decide they don't.

                          • Notice how the Empire lost and ended. The Federation lives on. The Borg Collective lives on. The Empire however, is no more.

                            • The Federation and the Borg weren't fighting the Rebels.

The Empire, twenty0five years AFTER the loss of almost all of their true upper echelon, wasn't gone yet. It fell, but very slowly, against a galaxy-wide insurgency.

The Borg, AFTER the loss of their upper echelon (in First Contact), wasn't gone yet. It didn't fall, and re-emerced more powerful than before.

The Empire sucked anyways. Even the Dominion had better genetically engineered soldiers than the Empire. The Jem'hadar, both in genetics (physical fitness and combat capabilities) and in armaments (they use personal cloaking devices, while in SW only the heaviest ships can use them, let alone individual soldiers) are vastly superior to Storm Troopers.

Borg Drones are vastly superior too. Within a few shots, they'll have adapted to Storm Trooper rifles, and will begin assimilating one by one.
