Unlike SOME people, I have a life... kids, a wife, a job that keeps me very busy, outside interests, volunteer work, other hobbies, lots of friends, and I read a ton as well... I'm still addicted to civ, and still play MP a lot... I'd call it a good life

Worse than Janeway who went through Borg space rather than going around?

      • Farscape likes to play with sci-fi conventions. Most episodes involve a typical set-up or cliche that (in a show like, say, Voyager) would have you know how things will turn out by the first commercial break. But (with good writing) they manage to turn the ideas into vehicles for smart stories and solid character development. Farscape is also really good at developing interesting story arcs, so events in one episode have genuine significance in subsequent episodes.

Death wish to be sure, but she only did that because the detour would have added 10 years to their trip.

We're talking about a captain who made an alliance with the Borg and was suprised when they attacked her ship.

The best main characters have flaws. That's what makes them great.
What makes farscape great is the fact that ALL of the characters are flawed. You also need to know in a drama that someone may die or lose. On farscape you never know who may lose or die at least in that episode.
The villain needs to be something of an antihero. Bad yet bad for a reason. Love to hate him. Someone like Darth Vader or maybe SCORPIUS. What's refreshing about Farscape is that unlike ST/SW where you can argue over the rules for several days, Farscape continously breaks the rules. Farscape explores concepts that I have never seen on ST/SW. The tricky part is catching a viewer like yourself. You just need to watch a specific episode that appeals to your sensibilities and you will be hooked.

No, she wasn't suprised, just angry with herself for not having chosen the smart course. She should have loosened her hairbun a little earlier; her head would have been a little clearer.

Hey! I got a life, but you know, growing up in rural Virginia in an older house near a modest apple orchard we had lots of wasps and hornets. Since Dad was away often he had to rely on us kids to take care of the place, which meant learning how to deal with a hornets nest.

And yet Janeway could still take Archer out back and beat him within an inch of his life on the other side of the line.

Stubborn and proud she is, but if I get into a war, Janeway or Archer? Come on, not even a contest.

                              • One of the local public libraries here has three or four shelves of Star Trek:TNG on VHS. I never saw the first few seasons, or indeed much of it at all, so I checked out the first five tapes.

Now I just need to get satellite, so I can watch TOS, TNG, DS9 and Voyager.
