  • In one of the Star Trek rpgs (from sometime after WoK) they explained it like this:

The Klingons in TOS were "human fusion" Klingons, who had their dna altered to "better understand" their enemy. The Christopher Lloyd Klingons (and after) are "Imperial Klingons" and thus never had any alterations. Similarly there are Romulan-fusions Klingons, etc. Eventually the Imperials were worried that the "fusions" had gained too much power, and so reasserted their control... through genocide, by my guess.

This would be why Worf was uneasy about explaining it, and why the "pre-contact" Klingons in Enterprise don't look like TOS Klingons.

Then again, it's just a game's hack at trying to explain one of Trek's many, many inconsistencies.

    • Yes, but there is a problem with that explantion (surprise). Klingon general from TOS days reappears in DS9 - and surprise - he has ridged forehead. Simialr thing is with Kahless - in TOS he ahs no ridged-forehead, but in TNG he has.

Star Trek indeed has many inconsistencies.

      • Well it wouldn't be too much of a stretch to consider it to be a temporary thing. I retconned this is my own head a long time ago to something similar, that they just thought it too shameful to allow a human to view their real faces, so they did something about it, and then over time humans slowly gained their respect until they allowed their faces to be seen. Yeah, that's the ticket.

While Star Wars has it's good points, and is a great series, it simply cannot compete with Star Trek's original cast.

More seriously however, it is impossible to compare the two. They are different kinds of shows. Apples and oranges.

                              • All this talk about Star Trek is making me want to dig up my ol' TOS avatar.

Perhaps I can make one that alternated between The Reagan and The Star Trek.
