  • There is no science in SW-any science is the result of countless wasted hours by ubernerds.

The creators os ST were nerds, so thay installed some science, but not too much-the more detailed things are the result of other ubernerds.

LFL considers EU literature to be official, that is , "That's the way SW is unless directly contradicted by the films". This is further enforced in that LFL strives to keep continuity with literature, whereas, say, Paramount yets every yokel with a wordprocessor write a book, regardless of conflicts with other books and shows/movies.

They are official, as official as they can get.

        1) they don't propogate at the speed of light

        2) they have a visible component

This PROVES that they AREN'T lasers.

        • All Lasers in Sci Fi have visible components-just like all sci fi has noise in a vacuum.

Bull****! I suppose that's illustrated by the wonderful way they butchered the origin of Boba Fett.

Those episodes must have been cut from my TV station. Is Space Above and Beyond scheduled to come back on a major station any time soon? If not you might as well tell me what happened.

Do you have any idea how many episodes after the one in which the Chigs deployed their stealth fighters and the marines landed on the Chig moon there were?

So? It's not a laser. "Laser" is a holdover term. Want more evidence? The Death Star superlaser was form from eight feeder beams - if they'd been "lasers" they would have passed right through each other, not built up and then fired forward.

Actually, it was stated in ANH radio drama that the sounds you here are approximations the tactical computer provides.

This was when the TIEs were attacking thn Falcon, and Han told Luke that he would be hearing sounds provided by the tac computers.

The EU? What the heck? Lucas has some sort of association with the European Union? I never took you for a commie Lonestar. My advice to you is to get the heck across the Mexican border as quickly as possible, 'cause I've already notified the Texas Rangers.

Which is still a butchered version of the origin given before Episode II. BOOYAH!

Expanded Universe. The (mostly, much more so than any ST series) internally consistant set of novels following ROTJ.

But the lasers make the same sound and the same light streak whether viewed from a gunners station on the Falcon or from a portal of an imperial ship, or from the ground. Is everyone in the SW universe equipped with the same tactical computer? Even the ewoks? Gosh, what a lucrative contract that must be.
