In several places, large segments of the population pulled their children out of the public school system. With a few decades, the children of those mass experiements began some very nasty civil wars.

The protests began in Kosovo only after the Serbs began disenfranchising and discriminating against the majority Kosovar population.

I wasn't aware that Palestinians had ever been invited into the Israeli school system.

They had a public school system of their own, paid for by the occupation, and self-organized by mayors, and local officials.
