            No one is a match for the Flames.

            People mocked me months ago when I made a thread called "The Flames are Going to Win the Cup!" on Poly, and it's not as outrageous now as everyone thought.

            Everyone predicted Vancouver would win.
            Then it was Detroit.
            Then it was San Jose.

            When will people wake up and realize Calgary is the team this year? Superstar forward, Superstar goalie, Superstar coach, unmatched work ethic and desire to go all the way. Unstoppable.

                Season Ends In Western Conference Finals


                On the anniversary date, May 19, of the Sharks dramatic Game 7 double overtime victory of the Flames in the first round of the 1995 playoffs, the Sharks again took on the Flames in an elimination game. This time the stakes were a little higher in Game 6 of the Western Conference Finals.

                San Jose made a valiant march to the Western Conference Finals, but the best run in Sharks history ended with a Game 6 loss to the Flames 2-1 in Calgary on Wednesday night.

                  Calgary coach Darryl Sutter, fired by the Sharks in December 2002, showed a lot of class by standing at the visiting players' exit from the ice and congratulating his former players as they dejectedly filed out.

                  "They're special guys," said Sutter. "We were so close two years ago with most of that group.

                  "Those guys are winners, too. If we can be where that organization is in two years in terms of development and overall organization, we'll be in good shape."

                      Two of the top 3 offensive players in the playoffs are Flames players: Iggy #1, Conroy #3. Conroy also now leads the playoffs in assists, and is 2nd in +/-.

                      I'm also currently #1 in the Poly league with 47 points, though that may change with tonight's game, and definitely will if they go to game 7.

                          But that's only this round's score. To see how you stand, change the setting to overall. I think you have a one point lead.

                              Anyways, the Flames are amazing. When was the last time a team beat three division leaders to make it to the finals.

                              Calgary fans. Forget the whimpy white towels. You gotta love fans where everyone is wearing a team jersey.

                              Saw Conroy on ESPN after the game. He looked like a kid who just got an amazing Christmas present. Ear to ear grin. Pure joy on his face.
