Are there any Habs fans on Poly who want to defend Mike Ribeiro's "injury"? It's officially listed, in NHL playoff-speak, as an upper body injury. Methinks it has something to do with his brain.
How can that be defended? It was a shameful display.
On a funnier note - How about Domi's awesome shot at the empty net? I guess that's why they pay him the big bucks.

That didn't stop Claude Julien from defending him:
"How can we all stand here and say he was faking when he doesn't practice today?" asked Julien of reporters after Monday's workout.
"Let's get something straight here, the guy was injured last night and people assume he was faking because he got back up, but he missed today. Not because I gave him the day off but because he's got an upper body injury."
Domi was almost as good as Rucinsky, who had two chances at an empty net (although the second one wouldn't have counted, because of the Ohlund/Iginla "fight"), and missed both.

Ribeiro
I'm a Habs fan but there is no way I would defend that display. He probably does have something wrong since he did miss practice but there was nothing that warranted the convulsions he exhibited.
I think the CBC commentators had it right though .. . That display will stay with him for a long long time. he would pretty much need to be decapitated for the refs to pay any heed to any injury for him in the future.

I'm glad the Canucks got Hedberg JUST IN CASE Cloutier went down.
There is real speculation here that Cloutier may be finished after 3! consecutive 30 win seasons, unprecedented for a Canuck goalie.
It's not the first time this wonky knee has given out on him. If Hedberg rides the Canucks for the playoffs, Cloutier may not be back.

Theodore gave up one stinker and one questionable goal, and WTF was Perreault -- the league's best faceoff man -- doing on the bench for that critical faceoff?! Yeah, he ain't good for a lot of anything else, but he doesn't have to be -- win that faceoff and the game's all but over!

I don't care how much that slash hurt Kovalev's hands, you gotta get that puck out of the middle of the ice... chip it towards the boards with your one good hand, anything.
Or at least keep your head up so you don't run into Souray!

Argh, a short-handed goal for the Bruins. What a way to lose the game.
Meanwhile, the insightful comment of the day from SI/CNN about the next Leaf-Sens game.
"The Senators will will if:
They can stop themselves from reeling ASAP. They need to come out strong in Game 4 and get their scorers back on the board -- namely Marian Hossa and Martin Havlat, who both were flying in Game 1 and have since kept up the pressure. Their defensemen need to pepper Belfour with a few more shots."
So basically the guy is saying that Ottawa needs to score to win and they need to stop losing. Deep man, real deep.
Phucking Alex Kovalev . Stands there and stares at his wrist, forgets completely where he is and where the puck is, and takes Souray out of the play to boot.
Thanks, Alex. Thanks, Jose, for two more softies. Thanks, Claude, for letting Perreault rot on the bench for that critical faceoff at the end of the third. Thanks for ending the season .
