Why would someone else step in? Whatever else happened, DD called a mod a "useless bag of crap." Personal insults like that get restrictions all the time, nothing new.

Not on the first offense. Usually a warning is dealt first.

Kind of ironic that it took place in a thread dealing with a lack of sense of humor.

if a senator made the same comment at the same time, would you be this up in arms?
what if bush had laughed at the senator's comment? upset?

That is unbelievable. People died for his little "search."
Does this by chance take into account how many people would have likely died under Saddam without his "search"?
I agree the president's statements were made in bad taste, but to put the death toll in an appropriate context so that we may all come to a more salient conclusion at least 200,000 people died under Saddam, about 700,000 americans die each year from heart disease, and 42,000 die each year from car accidents. At most about 600 US soldiers have died so far in the Iraqi conflict, you do the math.
I'm not saying that killing 600 people is okay (note that Bush didn't actually kill anyone, they died in combat, which in a sense is "getting them killed" though that term itself is somewhat vague and misleading), but if we look at the number of deaths in comparison to other causes they are pretty insignificant, especiallywhen we factor in the amount of lives probably saved.
BTW, I am not trying to stick up for Bush here, as I am not even voting for the guy. Just pointing out that the constant pointing of the deaths from the Iraqi war seem a bit exagerated.
