What basis would you have to say this? After all, do you think our records of the era are complete?

    • Do you understand that most of you are all discussing about a movie you haven't seen yet?
      Why let that stop them?
I came upon a barroom full of bad Salon pictures in which men with hats on the backs of their heads were wolfing food from a counter. It was the institution of the "free lunch" I had struck. You paid for a drink and got as much as you wanted to eat. For something less than a rupee a day a man can feed himself sumptuously in San Francisco, even though he be a bankrupt. Remember this if ever you are stranded in these parts. ~ Rudyard Kipling, 1891

        - Rankin: That's impossible, my lady. The natives are very dangerous.

        - Lady Cicely: Why? Has any explorer been shooting them?

        - Rankin: No, but every man of them believes he will go to heaven if he kills an unbeliever.

Ned- if you read my posts, you see OVER AND OVER, that I DO NOT SAY THIS.

But does it say anywhere that Pilate was UNAWARE of Jesus existence? Does it say that Pilate had never spoken to Caiphas about Jesus? DOES IT SAY THAT THEY TOOK ROMAN SOLDIERS TO ARREST HIM WITHOUT PILATE'S PERMISSION?

You fond of Shaw? I like some of his stuff too. Particularly Mrs. Warren's Profession. However,

Can it really be said that they believe in something they do not do? And secondly, why do you believe that I do not love you?

Well that settles it. We agree to disagree.

I feel a little better knowing that the rest of the world agrees with me.

Seriously, the credentials define the scholar. A layman may be able to pose a scholarly argument, but it will never be published in a scholarly journal. Why? Because he is not a scholar. He does not have the credentials.

I am NOT defending the principles of scholarship. I could have been a scholar, and chose not to. Very confining and dogmatic.

              • Question for Christians: If someone attempts to challenge Christianity while having a discussion with you, do you consider that person to be an agent of Satan?

Depends on the topic at hand.

If we are talking about something totally unrelated to religion, then I start to worry.

Otherwise, I just chalk it up to skepticism, and think nothing more of it.

                  • I was thinking of watching it, but when I learned it only focused on the last 12 hours of his life, and not how he lived the rest, I decided against it. I would support a movie about The entire life of Jesus, not just his bloody crucifiction.

An 'agent of Satan' is a little strong but Satan is definitely working through them.

Only one of the gospels says that Roman soldiers were involved in the arrest.

However, even if they were used, how does this necessarily implicate Pilate in the arrest since all versions say that the antendants of the High Priests were also there. Could the High Priests ask the Tribune to make an arrest without getting the procurator's permission?

That'll be good news for Jews, Muslims and Hindus, and all those espousing no religious faith.

Is there a Satanic employment agency located somewhere convenient for me to get to, because I feel I should be able to claim backpay for work already done?
