  • Imran, the article I quoted about holds indicates it is a widespread practice and is largely never challenged.

I have no idea why you are talking about Bush and China. Besides, Bush does raise human rights issues with the Chinese. Kerry blocks efforts to raise these same issues with his client, the communist Vietnamese.

    • Bills get passed in committee just to get voted down in the Senate (or House) all the time. I don't see how the disposition of the bill on the floor, once it got there, has any impact on the decision to release it from committee.
No, I did not steal that from somebody on Something Awful.

      • And why might that be?

For a whole host of reasons. Why do you think he didn't want to bring them up.

Imran, the article I quoted about holds indicates it is a widespread practice and is largely never challenged.

But since it is such an important issue wouldn't have been challenged? Or is it not that important?

Kerry blocks efforts to raise these same issues with his client, the communist Vietnamese.

Of course, the same people he fought and killed. John McCain also blocked this legislation. Is he a client of the communist Vietnamese as well?

        • ...and if John McCain were running for President again, we would bring it up against him, too.

          Didn't I already say that?

Anyway, the fact that Kerry is running as the "VietNam humanitarian" candidate makes this significant.

I seriously doubt it. Ned can't trip over himself quick enough to call Kerry a traitor and suck President Bush's dick.

I agree, so stop doing it. I'm a REPUBLICAN who is defending a DEMOCRAT here. I've defended Bush on numerous occasions and am doing so on other threads. Pot, kettle, don't see it.

Btw, are you admitting my statement truth then?

Just one example... I don't think the rest of you would care if McCain did it either. Hell, you DON'T care that he did it!

                    • Proof? Haven't heard anything about anyone running on Vietnam humanitarian platform.

Sanctimonious bull****. The last ****ing thing the US was interested in was "freedom and democracy" in Vietnam.

Kerry switched sides when he returned from Vietnam and began advocating the cause of the enemy. While this may not be a crime, it is a betrayal of his country and of his fellows who fought and died in that war.
My brother fought in that war and died as a result. The betrayal was by the United States Government and it's halfassed policy and mixed execution.

                            • MtG, I'm sorry to hear about your brother.

I also agree that the military strategy and execution was abysmal. I think the primary reason for this was that it was too much controlled by Johnson and McNamara and not by the military itself.

However, the only reason we were there was for the reasons I stated. We wanted to prevent a NV takeover of a nascent democracy in SV by communists, who, at the time, were allies with the USSR and China against the US.

Ned has just as much right to be here as you.

He's saved me and the mad monk from having to repeat points.

So please, try to keep this civil, Imran? 'K? I don't want to see you get banned for cursing Ned.

I don't think the rest of you would care if McCain did it either.
McCain ain't running for Pres. Again, I don't care who is against the bill, they should be condemned for doing so. Kerry stands out because of his prominent role, and should not get a pass, like he has from the media.

Think about this, Imran, have you seen this news out on the media? Why not?
