For the families and friends of the victims, it is natural to want to grind the perpetrator into the dirt, but that's an urge we should all resist – it doesn't make us look good, or better people, and it is an addictive kind of violence. That's why the justice system should be strict and impartial – it prevents our natural desire for cruelty and vengeance from making us worse people.

There are plenty of other outlets for our natural brutality: spectator sports, television and the print media. Why allow people's animalistic joy in cruelty to their fellows corrupt the justice system?

I'd bet a small some of money that it was a sexual crime. These sorts of things always are. Perhaps he didn't have sex with her, but the basis of the crime is still sexual.

I'm guessing he either killed her to shut her up, or he has a sex thing about death.

The worst thing is that nobody can do anything that will ever compensate for this girls murder. Life is harsh.
